It takes 5 minutes to do. Rip out the old one and reattach with 2 push clips.

As to how long they'll keep your car to do it, well, that's upto the dealer.

This happened on my BRZ at around 10k kms...Got it replaced under warranty and now its starting to happen again at 52k kms.

I notice it gets a lot worse after it rains because the seal starts sticking to the window.

mine looks still fine since i only have less than 10K mileage.
I always park under the sun too so it might slow it down. i always leave window open little to ventilate hot air so it minimize the issue too. i guess there won't be permanent fix except keep replacing rubber part. hoping that some 3rd party makes rubber parts cheap.

But the document clearly mentions about 36k miles, which you already passed. I'm pretty sure yours won't be covered under warranty.

This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.

Mine has been like that for awhile now. Only leaks during the touch less car wash but that's most likely due to the high pressure wash.

It`s not a difficult fix but it`s really annoying that my new car has problems like this... I had my bugeye for 200k miles and had less problems

it should be a recall if people have problems like this... it wont be worth getting the new seal as it`ll have the same issue as it ages..

The TSB says:
Quote:
The cross section of the weatherstrip has been revised
I believe it means the seal is revised to prevent the same problem from happening again.

As was pointed out, the TSB is for the seal that attached to the outside top of the door. It is a revision to limit the amount of water that passes between the window and the seal into the door frame.

It TSB does not apply to this issue.

Duh! You're right. It's actually is for the weatherstrip on the door. Not the one attached to the body of the car.

They did it when I got my next oil change. The new one was still good about 26K later.

I guess they use the same molding, so it is just a matter of time before it happens again. I will just use something to keep it lubricated.
