OFT a re sellable item? And another Q...

I'll ask here as well lots of OFT owners. I have a few quick questions as I'm not really familiar with the product. Seems a lot of praise and given I'm now not able to do FI this season OFT is looking like a better gig daily.

My header is stock, I have 2.5" Avo overpipe, Avo Catted FT pipe, and Lachure 2.5" Mid pipe and catback.

1.) if I chose later to go FI outside of OFTs Vortech and went ekutek etc is the OFT something you can sell to someone else?

2.) I'm on Canuck 91 fuel, 94 available however most available is 91. That said is the OFT stage 1 satisfactory overall or is it worth paying for reviews and modifications to get it at best? I see the 200 bones option just wondering if there is sense with what little my mods are (now) exhaust wise?

I appreciate any feedback on this questions! Thank you.

1) Yes. Just flash your car back to stock, use OpenFlash Manager to wipe the Tablet, and sell it. The new owner will be able to use it just like you were able to.

2) I wouldn't bother with custom tuning based on your mods as the gains would be insignificant. Hell, there was a recent thread from Delicious Tuning announcing they hit 200whp on 91 octane with JDL headers/ overpipe/front pipe but stock midpipe and muffler. Just goes to show you a catback isn't necessary for extracting performance from NA FA20s - they mostly just change the sound.

And I wouldn't sell the OFT just yet. It wasn't long ago there weren't any FI options with the OFT, and now Vishnu themselves sell a Vortech SC kit. Give it time.

As long as you can find someone to buy it off you OFT is certainly resell able. to be able to flash the OFT reads your original ROM and stores it on OFT, then it allows you to flash your car. If you want to 'de-marry' the OFT from your car simply flash back you original ROM from OFT then erase the device. It can then marry to someone else's car. Only ever one car at a time though.

At present OFT tune's will run on 91 but your IAM will be less than one and performance will not be optimal, you need 93 or better for that.

I believe next version of tunes will have 91 & 93 specific tunes.

If you want to pull a bit of timing yourself to make tunes run better on 91 here's how

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61820

They have just put out wideband 02 sensor support so I don't think it will be too long before they put out some form of turbo kit. Once they patch the ROM's for failsafe on high AFR and/or overboost. But no guarantees though.

They have already patched for Launch control and Flat foot shift.

Thanks for responses guys one of the many reasons this is a great forum.

For clarification so (as it is today) on 91 fuel the Stage 1 is not worth it really is that what you're saying? What is IAM ? Many thanks.

It will be fine on 91, just not optimal performance as you will get some knock and the ecu will manage this knock by reducing the IAM, which reduces ignition advance and hence a bit less performance than you would get on 93 or better fuel.

IAM is ignition advance multiplier.

plenty of people running 91 on these tunes the stock tune does the same thing on 91, the cars are meant to use 93 for best performance.

Ahh ok gotcha. Thx for clarity.

94 is available however the crickets with it drive me mad, while 91 is cricket free. 93 Vpower is widely available in city however I'm out 2 hrs from 93 .

Thanks again fellas seems it's still worth it and it's obvious Shiv is continuing to develop.

While I chew on this abit more now knowing 93 is ticket I'm going to do some harder looking nearby and see if it's more available then I know of.
