Hmm...I don't know, I mean the Altezza(Lexus IS) was killed when Toyota started to sell Lexus in Japan, right? Now they want to make it a compact while the IS is playing in the mid size sedans segment. Something tells me that if this sedan will really be produced, it will wear the Lexus badge, outside Japan, once again. Still I believe that making a Lexus small coupe based on the FT-86 that will go against BMW Z4, Audi TT, Mercedes SLK or Porsche Cayman will be a better safety net then this.

Dosent Toyota Practically own Subaru though? Subaru wont be happy but they wont have a say in it either way. kind of a put up or shut up sort of situation.

Also even if they do strech the platform with the already small engine space(one of the main reasons they are using the Subaru boxer) how do they expect to fit the bigger H6 in there without messing up the weight or ratio of weight? I really don't trust this source.
Since the coupe is sitting on a revised legacy platform couldnt they just sit the sedan on a standard legacy platform with rwd and the H6 would then fit and the weight wouldnt be messd with all that much?

If they want to do a 4-door style, maybe do what mazda did with there RX-7. 4 doors yes, but you only see 2. I can deal with that.

hmmm...did you know they have also partnered with Bugatti and now they are making a quad-turbo version. It can also be driven underwater for those who have been wondering.

Well i dont like the idea of a 4 door at its current look. If this rumor holds up, i'll need to look at it in production form based off the coupe first. I can see why they would and if they went ahead and made it a hatch it would follow suit with all the other car manufactures that are producing coupe sedans like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. But i think it will look weird. All those coupe sedans are larger cars.

Unless they change it for the production model all signs from what we know say the FT-86 Concept Car at least sits on a modified Impreza platform and not the Legacy platform. Sorry for any confusion.

Actually, my first thought was; "Woah, an international JZX platform?!?!!!1?" Man, that would be killer. I'd snatch one of those up in a heartbeat.

And yes, the image is just photoshop crap to go with the article. No need to get bent out of shape about it guys.

I sure hope this is just a rumor or a bunch of b/s. Adding a sedan version would water down the idea of this car being a pure sports car.

setting aside the fact that the story is pure rumor, a sedan version does make sense. theres a thread on this forum about alternate body styles/derivations, and a 4-door wasnt mentioned. it makes as much sense as a convertible, IMHO. if it doesnt cost that much more to develop the 4-door version, you get more return on investment in this platform.

i could see subaru supporting this, oddly. RWD would expand their sporty image (WRX, STi) and boost sunny weather sales. sorta budget-BMW product line.

I wish they would subtract 2 seats instead of adding 2 doors.
