So I drove 550 round-trip miles yesterday... I accomplished a number things in doing so...
I got to see an iconic car builder in action. That iconic car builder being Akira Nakai aka Nakai San. I was able to witness and document a portion of the build. One of my Misfits https://www.instagram.com/team.misfits/ ) team mates is the owner of the now RWB Porche https://www.instagram.com/rwb_dallas/. The second thing I was able to do was pick up some more aero parts from Greyhound... they are really hit and miss... so while I was in The Dallas area, I stopped by and picked up my package. The third thing I was able to get done was purchase 2 4x8 sheets of 1/4" ABS. Saved money on shipping! More custom aero parts coming soon! The fourth thing I was able to do is get an in-person look at a Charvonia Designs diffuser. I will use that design to help jumpstart my diffuser fabrication. And finally, I was able to hang out with some of my Misfits team mates! Very productive trip to Dallas! __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix Last edited by zeal86; 01-18-2018 at 12:32 PM. |

ˇWARNING Picture Overload!
Process pics of my DS rear quarter fiberglass work... I still have to bondo and shape and blend some more... I purposely avoided showing pics of my ugly welds... hopefully the other side will come out better now that I have some experience... lol I used 3M 425 Aluminum Foil Tape to seal the big gaps between slits. Btw, the 3M aluminum tape is very versatile but also very expensive... Seam sealer applied over the tack welds mainly to keep them out of sight... because they are ugly... lol Scuffed aluminum tape vs not scuffed. Scuffed for stronger adhesion. Long Hair Body Filler Sanded down... Cleaned for fiberglass mat and resin... Fiberglass mat applied... __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix Last edited by zeal86; 01-20-2018 at 10:26 PM. |

I'm going to make the rear quarters look finished even though they won't be seen... I am practicing for the molding and blending to come...

Not done but got a decent amount of work in today...
I still have to add some more bondo here and there... then continue to shape and blend... I'll finish the exterior side with some glaze... __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

I changed up some things and added the Voltex type 5 wing. I am actually considering a replica Rocket Bunny v1 wing...no way I pay $1600 plus for an authentic version.

I'll glaze this area just for practice and experience... I may rattle can primer and paint this area white since it wont be seen.
To seal this area I'm thinking about temporarily securing the overfender to the body then lining the inside of the overfender with tape and/or plastic then spraying expanding foam into the gap. Then I will remove the fender and sand, fiber glass, and bondo the foam. It should have the perfect shape to seal off the gap. I'll then run sealant along the edge where the foam meets the inside of the overfender. Finally I'll prep, mask off, and spray the wheel wells with a textured undercoat. __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |
