I built a new computer just after Thanksgiving cause my old computer died (motherboard, I suspect...). New computer started having issues just before my vacation mid December, managed to fix that but I bricked the computer last Tuesday... Have been waiting for EVGA to send me a new cmos chip...

Getting tired of this, got shit I need to work on:

Anyone with experience making radio transmitters?

I have an issue where some neighbor below me uses his remote start on his mustang at like 5am. Then he lets his car idle for 10 mins + so long the car auto shuts off. My apartment is right over the garage and it shakes everything and completely wakes me up and drives me crazy. I've never seen this person and management won't do anything.

So my idea is to have a radio transmitter to transmit on the 315mhz frequency to block the remote start feature for his car. I want to have this connected to a timer that turns it on early in the morning and turns it off a few hours later. Problem is I need some help from someone with electronic expertise to make such a transmitter. Any help or advise would be great. Send me a pm of you can help.

(Some venting)
Wtf is wrong with this person we are in Ca and it doesn't get below 40 degrees. Why they feel they need to warm their engine so long baffles me. At most 3-4 mins warm up. Really at this temp no warm up is even needed. Actually better to drive it at low revs after a min or two to warm up the car faster. But idling for over 10 mins is stupid and a waste and an asshole move in an apartment complex.

Have you tried having a conversation with him?

No I haven't had a chance. I've only seen the driver once (I think it was him)since they moved in about a year ago. He only recently started using his remote start in the past month. If I see him I'll talk him but I don't really cross paths with the driver ever. Thought about leaving a note if all else fails.

If I can just jam that signal between 430am and 7am that would work well also.

Leave a polite note on his garage explaining that it's waking you and others up.

This might be a situation where a mutual agreement or compromise could easily be reached with a friendly conversation or note. People are typically receptive of someone calmly explaining an issue or grievance and suggesting possible outcomes.

Leaving a rude note, telling him his loud ass car is obnoxious as fuck, or passive aggressively blocking the remote start signal are not great options, imo.

Yeah I will try a nice note and see how that works.

Yeah, cuz when I first moved into the house I'm in now, the neighbor kept parking their cars in front of our house, so I had no where to put the trash and recycle bins. I left a polite letter on their car saying that I had no where to put those bins. They moved their car and have been mindful of trash/recycle day since then.

Are there quiet hours in your complex? If there are, and if the letter doesn't work, you can take matters to the local police since it would be defying the quiet hours.

That's a good point, hopefully the note will resolve things. If not I can look into other options but I really hope the note works.

Or... You can just put some pants on when he starts it up at 5am and hang out next to the car with a coffee, ready to chat him up. You're already up anyway right? 😉

I could do that if I get that desperate. Wearing pants is no way to live life, I avoid putting them on until I absolutely have to.

My neighbor's son and family were home for the holidays and drove in this monster. I secretly want one now as a family adventure mobile
/trackday tow rig.

Also, love the plate "PNZRVAN"
