Just took mine in for service 1. They said the noise is from the injection system and is normal in the FRS's but they logged a TSB with scion canada.

I know this probably isn't hurting the car but it is annoying and i hate the sound.

Yes, I've been using the Liberty gas station. Popped the hood when I came home from work today just to check. I feel like I hear a very quiet chirping that might be inaudible with the rest of the engine sounds, but I maybe just paranoid.

I just did another 20 miles and I am getting the chirp again. So, again Lucas oil still nothing. This time I did not even run the A/C still same tank from last time. Keep you posted if it does go away.

Ok here's my experience:

Zero chirping at all the whole life of the car, no issues. Super happy and thankful I don't have to deal with this, especially since I am obviously voiding most of my warranty with aftermarket parts already.

Today at 2868 miles I go to my Subaru service department, and get my complimentary first oil change. 0w20 Subaru synthetic.

Chirping.

So it does seem oil related or affected. :/

I'm sad I have to deal with this now...

Bummer!... It seems like anything if not everything, could be the culprit...

>_> Obviously everyone must do a happy dance to appease the FT86 gods and the chirping will stop.

Probably demand more sacrifice as well...

Almost immediately after I crossed 300 miles and filled up with Chevron 93 the crickets started. It wasn't doing it at all prior to 300 miles when it had Shell 93 in it. Around here both vendors are E10 (10% Ethanol) fuel.

The car came from the factory with some fuel in it from Japan. It'll take a tank or two for that to cycle through. That is why you just starting to get the chirp.

It had just under a half tank in it off the truck (I ordered mine) and the dealer topped it off with Shell 93 E10 on delivery. Makes sense.

Here's my latest Unsubstantiated Rumor: I was at Longo yesterday. There were about eleven honchos there from Toyota and Subaru. They had suits and business cards. Mostly white American types, but I think two were from Japan. They were asking questions and trying to get customer feedback on complaints about the car. One customer had his raven FR-S in there for them to look at. A salesman told me that these guys told him that a TSB would be forthcoming on the chirping. Parts are being manufactured as we speak. Everyone was pretty vague about the cause of the chirping, except that it is DI related. Evidently, they were also collecting info on all other complaints.

That's the best I have.

Good info from ^ poster. Let's keep an eye out for the TSB! Honestly, IMHO, I think this car is so important to Toyota and Subaru that such issues will be addressed vigorously. This car will be a legacy years from now and part of its success will require ironing out of these initial production quirks. As long as I feel there's some fix in the works ... I'm happy.

I hope this is true. I will most likely take my car to my dealer this Saturday just so that they log it and become aware of the issue. My chirping is going way out of control.
