Meh- I just bought what I liked and don't over analyze it. Nothing to do with income.

yeah to be honest, I think that most of the people that could afford an FR-S could also afford the BRZ but just chose the Scion for whatever their reasons were

However there are a bunch of kids on this forum that seem to revel in the euphoric feeling that they have the $4000 more expensive version. Not chump change, but obviously this is much more important to some of the less mature people here than it is to others. I am happy with the same (or better) quality ride for less cost, especially since I will only use this car seasonally.
I've purchased 10 new cars in my life so far, so perhaps it's just a much bigger deal for some.

Can't believe that some people on this forum are accusing FRS owners of trying to steal these.

To OP: I hope insurance fixes that for you and those thieves get caught.

I rather the thieves get hit by a bus than get caught.

Petty thieves deserve harsh punishments so it'll discourage other potential petty thieves. What's gonna happen if they just get caught? pay the OP the cost of the damage and get on with it? Ultimately it's the OP who loses and has to go through all the fixes and live with a "fixed" car.

anyway, my avatar is a big potato because it's easier for me to spot my own post when i quickly scroll down the thread. Most people here use pictures of their cars which makes me hard to find my own if i were to use a car picture. I'm pretty sure people are not interested to see another BRZ avatar

Awesome. That's gotta be the funniest reason for an avatar ever! I love it lol

My insurance company wanted me to bring it to one of their recommended body shops but I said I'd rather have the dealership do everything. I was notified that I may have to do a bit more paper work during the payment and there may be delays (apparently body shops will release the car before they receive payment as they know insurance has a check in the mail for them, but dealerships will hang on to it until it's paid in full), but that didn't worry me. Having parts from the source puts me at ease, and that way there's no chance of issues with my warranty in the future.

I was told that for the body work alone (the stuff that didn't need replacing), it would be $1100. And then there's the interior, replacing the stripping around the window, the missing hardware under the hood, replacing the key locks and reflashing the keyless entry, replacing the wheel locks, labor, etc.

I keep getting different answers from the insurance company depending on who I talk to, but it sounds like most of the key replacement and wheel lock replacement cost will apparently be covered as well. The agent gave me the impression that my wheel locks will be covered only because it was an option from the dealership and had I installed them myself, I would have been SOL.

I never realized how much I've started to depend on my car until now :P.
