Wrapping Rear Tail Lights with Vivvid Light Smoke Film and Failing HARD, HALP PLZ

Hey Guys,



So I'm not doing so well at this, my first attempt was pretty bad I must say, but I haven't seen a great deal of people doing this and the light from what I can tell is rather complex when it comes to wrapping (2014 OEM Tails). Hoping maybe someone on here has done it before?


Here's a quite shit video of my first attempt:

My second attempt is currently on the car and I still have to edit the video, but a couple days in now (Was a far better job) and the little TINY edge wrinkles I thought wouldn't be an issue are biting me in the ass hard. The landscape crew at work also didn't help today by leaf blowing directly into the back of my car causing a pretty big uplift from sand cramming into it...


At this point I am thinking of doing it in multiple pieces as stretching around the light and the stupid little fin they added are causing major issues with my novice skills.

Have you tried the vht night shade stuff? It's a spray on tint. There are also aftermarket tails where the inside is black and the lens is clear so everything is as visible as stock.
May I ask why you want to tint vs an aftermarket taillight?

Use your heat gun more liberally, you cant hurt the film with too much heat

Also, i'd take the tails out. its not hard. 3 bolts. That way you can wrap the film overlapping the edges

So I'd like to stay away from sprays as I just don't think they look good in comparison, as for aftermarket, the only tails I really would want to change for would be the Intec's, but they're $500 so one of the last on my list haha

Ahhhhhh I see, overlapping would really help being able to stretch the last wrinkles out too

Was just looking at these a couple of minutes ago haha, I'm actually thinking of going the Valenti route at this point, they look good, the wrapping is turning out to be a nightmarishly long project, and the Intec's are just too expensive can't really justify it.



We shall see what happens but I am going to give the wrap one more try with the lights off of the car.
