So bought a new to me FRS a few days ago, and there was some weird red residue all over the front of the hood.
Tried clay barring the hood but that wouldn't work so I tried a rubbing compound.
That got it all off, but left me with some dull spots and scratches.
Polished it by hand but still have the marks.
Used Turtle shell rubbing compound and polish
Any advice on how to clear up the hood?
Going to try scratch x

First, throw away the clay. Best way is DA polisher (harbor freight $50 or ask a friend) with a microfiber cutting pad, Meguiars M105 and M205. Typically you start with the less aggressive formula, M205, but it doesn't sound like it'll take those scratches out. M105 will take the deeper scratches out but will leave some micro swirls, which M205 would take out.

Without a DA, you'll need a lot more elbow grease get rid of those marks. You can try going at it with MF pad with your rubbing compound until all the swirls are even, and following it up with the polish. Auto stores sell foam blocks and stuff that help doing it by hand easier but the DA polisher is a good investment IMO.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MLFNSYC/ for taking out the spots.

Having a nano-coating can make the removal easier but I haven't come across anything that will prevent it.

Looking for advice on a solid pressure washer and foam gun setup when moving to my new place.

Any suggestions?

I got 2016 FR-S series 2.0 about 3 weeks ago. It's been around long enough to safely wax as it's #65/1000.
The dealer has done some detailing as water beads on the paint. Now I would like to wash it and use Nu-Finish on it to get through the winter.
Do I have to use a detergent (Dawn) to strip whatever is on there now?
I'm guessing that a wash with a car wash liquid the 2 bucket method and then apply Nu-finish would be ok.

What say you?

I'm about to buy a used Titanium (burnt) tip exhaust... it looks like it's no longer blue on the tip due to carbon build up... any suggestion on how to remove it safely and get it back to the blue? Specifically Invidia Q300 if that helps! Thanks!

What do you guys recommend I use to clean the car's interior? Do I need anything specific for the fake plasticy leather or will any interior cleaner be fine? What about the alcantara on the seats?

I have a question for you detailing experts.

How do products like Mothers "Showtime" work ..??

Do they react with the existing wax to produce the shine or do they add a layer that makes the surface look shinier ..??

Is there any downside to using these products .. ??

I'm old and lazy and find that these products to be an easy alternative to waxing my car.

Is there any problem with that .. ??

TIA

Hello,

If you have a HP Holder (suction cup type) on the WindShield for some time,
once you remove it, the WindShield will have a circular mark.
The mark is actually on my solar film.

What is the best way to remove this mark without damaging the Solar film ?

Thanks
