But so many do. His name was so attached to the hype that the perception is that he singlehandedly built the car. He was more the front man to the team that did the actual work. His departure changes nothing.

It was supposed to be a second generation on the same platform. An actual facelift happened back in middle '14. Of course, this is all a terminology issue and I agree that the changes were not in reality that much to name it a new generation. Basically, a try to shift to another group of buyers. At that time some of us had objections, because not many that owned the first cars would like to change. Anyway, this is all history now.

Sorry, I forgot... I've heard it when I was at SEMA (last year) w ppl working closely w Toyota JP, but it was late night, eating and everyone had several drinks, couldn't really hear it well.

If they announced the Supra, it would definitely not be a 2018.

OTOH, one man can steer a team. His greatest accomplishment was convincing Corporate to go ahead with the car. I don't believe the 86 would exist as it is without him.

There was no facelift in 2014. 2017 was the minor model change.
