The other person did have insurance. It's some no-name insurance, but at least they had it. The guy even had warrants for his arrest and was taken into the police cruiser after the accident. Glad that this person who wasn't supposed to be driving is now off the road. But anyways, I called my own insurance (progressive) first to speed things up and called the other guys insurance to let them know about the incident.

I hope the car is written as Totaled. The car barely had 1400 miles on it. If it's not declared as total, I'll get a lawyer. I'll also go see a chiropractor tomorrow. I decided not to go to one since I felt nothing since friday (most chiropractors were closed until Monday)

Looks totaled since you said the airbags deployed, but they will try to fix it. But if the repairs are in the upwards of the 13-14k range it will become a total loss. Sorry man, i had a girl on the freeway rear end me in my frs back in december. I was sandwiched between them and my car received the most damage like in the 12k range but my airbags didn't deploy so my car wasn't considered a total loss

Holy freaking hell ! Glad you are not hurt, but be ware and go check with a doctor, take xray and all.

The car look totaled. Look like the chasis got damaged. I hope your insurance take care of her.

Good luck. Hang in there !

This was right off the intersection of 610 and main near reliant stadium. I live in the southeast side of houston near hobby airport.

The airbag deployment works in your favor to be totaled; just depends on the frame/chassis at this point...but I have a feeling it won't be totaled.

I'd agree with that 100%! My mum was hit by a drunk driver that veered into her lane (not quite head on, more of an angled front on impact). Her sedan was totalled and she thought she was ok but a little bit of a sore knee.

She didn't do anything about it and now has knee problems from where her knee hit the door in the impact

Reading these stories makes me wonder if I should be driving my 92 civic on the roads. I think my life is more important than saving a few hundred dollars per year.

Yup, glad you're okay with this accident. There are a lot of stupid drivers on the road, just be careful -- even if it's not your fault.

Do you have uninsured motorist? If his insurance doesn't fully cover it you may be left with part of the cost going to either you or your insurance.

Damn, as long as you came away safely out of that accident then that's all that matters.

And in my state, I think your car would be considered totaled.

Yeah, I have full coverage under progressive. I contacted both my and the other guy's insurance, but decided to go through my insurance since it is a bigger company and they will handle the situation more quickly and have the the other company reimburse them later. The other guys's insurance wanted to wait until they spoke with him until proceeding further, but the other guy was arrested and taken to jail since he had outstanding tickets and a warrant for his arrest. That could've taken weeks to months for that.

Very interested to see if they write this off as totaled... Sorry to see this. I was almost rear ended yesterday, and nearly t-boned two days ago...I have had my FR-S for a few weeks and have had 3 'near accidents'..

I swear this car has a dumbass magnet...
