Just had one installed 2 weeks ago with a manufacture date of Nov 2013 and it started rattling this morning. Just found this thread after searching for this issue.... grrrrrrrrrr.

What a giant piece of rubbish and shame on Borla for not changing a design flaw and shame on me for not researching this more before buying cause if I knew this I would of never bothered with this piece of junk.

Shops should stop carrying this rubbish.

The flexibles are the source of the rattling problem. Some of them seem to be just fine and some others start rattling badly after a while.. This is disapointing.

If they were smart they would put flex braids over the joints to prevent the rattle and still allow it to flex.

I got under the car and tapped around with a rubber mallet. My rattling is from the collector. My joints aren't the issue Borla is sending another unit.

Where can you find when it is manufactured?

Hi.. on the label on the original box says the build date. On mine it did. I am now requesting a refund cause my replacement is now also rattling again... in just about the same time frame after install.

Here is a warm header being tapped with a rubber mallet... pile of junk, cold starts with thing on the car sounds like marbles are bouncing around inside of it. Meanwhile, I did the same thing when first installed and there was no sound at all. My first one had this issue and also something broke in the collector so that was also vibrating under acceleration.

Great quality Borla! get out of UEL business and do us all a favour.

My flex joints rattled but I fixed them...wrapped with header wrap then secured tightly with 3 hose clamps per joint. It's been noise free for 3-4 months now.

I tried that on my last one . Thanks to your idea which was awesome. Wasted the wrap since it was the collector. Not sure if I can reuse it.

Maybe I will try that again. But we shouldn't have to do this I am pretty fed up with this junk.

I do agree, should NOT have to do this.

First inspect before you install! Flat flanges and shake the damn header haha. I would mount the headers first with old gasket and hit it with rubber mallet. I also have some rattle from collector so i wrapped it. The point is that when I tried to replicate the noise while the header was off, I couldn't hear anything. I was able to hear it when it was mounted on the engine. There are some youtube clips on how to wrap exhaust parts. It's simple. After wrapping, hold with hose clamp or get header wrap tie.

Hi. Did the thermal exhaust wraps on the flex hoses and the collector solve the rattling problem entirely?
Did borla come out with an explanation as to cause of the rattling? Is it because of the flex hoses entirely or is the collector or is it both? I appreciate their effort in replacing the unit and hope they will extend the same to me but what is their official statement regarding the root cause of the problem so we can be guided and be able to check.
At around 2000-2500rpm, the rattling sound on mine seems to come from the collector. So i dismantled the uel header examined the collector area. there were no evident cracks on the outside of the collector nor inside the collector where the four tubes meet. The welds inside and outside look all intact. But when I shook it really hard, the rattle sound came from the flex hose area... The flex hoses seem to have ample clearance so there is no direct binding of the two overlapping tubes... So i'm wondering if it's the flex hoses that are really causing the rattle despite the rattling sound coming from the collector area...
