I'm so glad I spent a bit more for the ScanTool dongle and just purchased the DashCommand app. Sucks that the iPad apparently wont connect to the dongle. Thanks Apple!

Easy, just drop Apple and join us on the Android side. We have Kit Kats, jelly beans, even ice cream sandwiches

Samsung phone and GTab 3 8 as well, both rooted. iPads are jailbroken as well. Fuck Apple and their need to do things differently when it comes to basic connectivity.

This updated finally, extended brs86 pids are $10.

Kinda hesitant to buy them since its showing the purchasable oil temp pid as unsupported for me and I bought this app when it was $50 and a steaming pile of shit a few years ago. Feel pretty jilted that the app is $10 now and usable, yet those of us that paid 5x still pay the same for Addons, let alone that they didn't even get the add-on right in terms of detection.

I wish they would also mention that if you buy any other dongle other than some POS Chinese rip-off you might have connection issues as well.

Only issue I have with that is why should you need to root the devices - if Apple locks down too much and Android is "open" then you shouldn;t need to root.

I had to root my Android head unit so the bluetooth would communicate with EML327 and HKS OB-LINK. Pain in the @ss but at least it works I suppose. Shame you have to root or jailbreak anything - should be a select option and void your software warranty as a result but keep your hardware warranty - seems easy to me!

I'm a complete novice at this, but I want to be able to keep an eye on oil temps. So it sounds like to get started on an iphone:
Buy DC
Buy FR-S PID
Then what? Does it require an OBD-II wifi sensor?
