Bridgestone RE-11 in 245/45R16 is my vote for tires. I use it for track, autox, daily, and it's even good in rain. Since they are in the top category of summer tires they don't work very well below 45 degrees (no summer tire does), but that's what my winter tires are for.

It would have been better with a proper alignment, but the tires seemed to lose traction with all driver aids off and full throttle turning. I've only tracked on this setup so it's hard to compare to a 17" or 18" setup. The other 86s present had similar mods (suspension, wheels & tires) and were putting down similar lap times, though the 16" setup on this car took the fastest lap of the day

So I am looking into 16's I used this calculator and debating 245 and 235. How close is too close until there's interference with any suspension items? 245 are ideal which brings the gear ration back to 4.10 so this is prefered. I forget who made this calculator but I think the end of the red line may be where suspension parts are. I used the Y axis line as a guide to clearance if it is the max. Anyway the offset for the fender lip should be okay. I dont want the tires sticking past the fenders. I also am going to put TRD lowering springs.

thanks for any help

steve

I can't remember, nor do I have 16s but I think you'll need to run +25 offset to get them to fit. Get a store to order then for you (if they allow returns in they don't fit) so you can try them on for size.

The problem will be the limited number of 235/245 sized tires to choose from.

I'm running 16in wheels with 225s all around. The car seems fairly stable but I do get some sidewall deflection if I'm more than half throttle on any hard coners

Got any pics of the CR01 on the car? I'm very interested in how they look, and what size & offset.

225 is certainly acceptable for use on a 7" rim, especially in taller aspect ratios required for running smaller diameter wheels. I run 225/50-16s on 16x7s and have zero issues at all. The tire does not roll over like everyone thinks it will, even when autocrossing, and I'm only running pressure in the high 30's.
