Pioneer AVIC-X940BT confirmation

Hello all,

I have been trying to do research on what is specifically needed to install an aftermarket radio. I plan to do the X940BT. After searching this is what I have come to the conclusion of needing below. Can others with this headunit or any other aftermarket headunit confirm this all is correct and everything that I need? If so my total is only 570 i

Have you checked to make sure the dash kit will fit and is the right size?

Down in the Classifieds there is this that are made to fit the FR-S and dont require any trimming/cutting. Might be a non-issue though if you already made sure it will fit.

Did you search this radio and see if anyone has done it on other cars? I'm not sure, but I read that some radios now use navigation to tell if the car is moving and cuts off video. It might just be the JVC/Kenwoods. I don't remember.

That parking brake bypass technique (adding a new wire to a "secret" bypass pin on the HU's RCA harness) works for the AVIC-X940BT.

Here's a better antenna adapter to use: Metra 40-LX11. FR-S needs the BLUE power antenna wire (for the antenna booster amplifier). BRZ does not (Subaru puts that wire on the power/speaker harness).

I have the x940bt and used all the pieces you listed cept for the bypass
I just followed this video foe the bypass
http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=8HL5p...%3D8HL5pkAKkkA

But the wire you have thee seems like it can work too.

And ike44 is correct that you do need to modify that metra 95 8202 dash kit, I used a hacksaw. But it looks like other options are coming out.

no need to waste money on the bypass, its very simple to just move the mute wire to a different slot on the connecter and ground it out.

check out AVIC411.com for tons more info on the pioneer radios

I havent used that antenna adapter but im curious to see what makes it better than the scosche LSAAB that you listed originally.

im using the scosche LSAAB without any issues to radio reception. But im not sure whats the difference within these adapters.

Me either, after searching the forum for a while the LSAAB seems to be the atenna adapter to go with.

The Scosche LSAAB has an extra leg that you won't use (the one with the black plug). See pictures in my post here (also see my post #10 later in that thread).

Ok I bit the bullet and purchased the following--

Pioneer AVIC-X940BT - 526.89 shipped--Amazon
Beat-Sonic BH1 Stereo Installation Kit - 43.07 shipped- Beat-Sonic
Metra 40-LX11- 14.99 shipped- Sonic Electronix

Grand total is 584.95 for a way better radio than BeSpoke at 845. I saved 260.05 that I now can spend on something else for the FRS.

Nice don't forget any additional butt connectors or soldering tools you might need if you don't already have. Wire strippers, crimp tools, zip ties, etc

Good luck!

You got an effing deal on that Pioneer. MSRP is $1k. I have no idea why Amazon is pricing them so low, but I am certainly not complaining.

I am actually thinking about picking one up for myself. Let us know how your install goes.
