I'm quite certain that I have at least as much FUN in my BRZ as many Porsche Cup car guys do. It's just a different experience in each.

There is a significant amount of enjoyment in driving a "Slow Car Fast". These days there are a lot of high performance "track cars" that coast their way into the braking zone. They are "cheater cars" that make the driver appear to be a lot better than they really are. The car actually hinders driver development. In many cases, the car saves the driver from mistakes they have no idea they are even making. Most of the guys who pay for their HP and performance know it. Unfortunately, quite a few don't know it. All of them, to a T, respect the 86 car... I've had many in my right seat.

The "high consumable side of the tracks" isn't necessarily greener... I never complain about my car. My consumables are like a low buck Miata. Would I like to own a GT3? Sure! Would I necessarily have more FUN? NO! It's just different. I'd love to own them all...

The 86 car is an exceptional car in the way the Miata is. I'm convinced of that. If it's the kind of car that suits you, you might want to hang onto it. Who knows how many will be made...

You got that right. Better to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

^very wise man. Could not have said it better. I came from cars with a bit more power and the FRS made me realize a small mistake can cost me big in lap times. I second your opinion to the T. Most fun I have ever had with this car (well mostly most

Nobody ever mentions driving a fast car fast, like it's not an option, lol.

Yeah, that's true. But fast modern cars driven fast end up putting everyone in unsafe situations on public roads. So to drive a fast car fast just isn't realistic unless you have a dedicated track car, tow rig, etc.

Many drivers buy fast cars to go fast - on the straights. I've seen few DE drivers with fast cars driving at the car's limit through the corners.

Modern cars are just way, way too fast.

Personally I think an advanced driving course should be mandatory to buy a high performance car (and should be fostered in a way where that license is a badge of honor, not a pesudo-right).

The roof will be off in a couple of weeks, so I'll let you guys know on that as well.

Also of note, I stripped out all of the unnecessary brackets and other sheet metal from the inside of the chassis, and there isn't much to be gained there in weight loss. I took 8 lbs 9 oz out. Spare tire well seems pretty beefy, so maybe that will be a good chunk out once it gets chopped.

Does anyone have an accurate weight on the rear subframe?

Thanks so much. I just ordered the Seibon Dry Carbon Fiber doors. Looks like they weight 10lbs each. So I should be able to save ~80lbs!!!

wow! Now what are the safety implications? I know stock doors are very very soft and dent easily. I wonder what the safety trade-off is, if any.

Obviously for caged cars only unless you have a death wish.

Not caged! People ride motorcycles everyday without cages around them
