I've heard a few times from people that they didn't realize Subaru's were 'a thing' until they moved here. Kind of like how some people view Mitsubishi's or Suzuki's, (or Kia/Hyundai about a decade ago), "People actually buy those?!?"

I'll admit there aren't a ton here, you wouldn't notice if you weren't looking, but it would be unusual to not see a few driving around.

Yep, I remember back in the summer of 1959, our family was visiting my uncle, who lived in downtown LA and he drove us around in his Pontiac convertible.

After that experience, the pig poop back on the farm, didn't smell quite so bad .....

The Forrester only makes up 6% of the "small SUV" sold in America according to this and is ranked 6th in class by volume:

I'm willing to bet that a high percentage of WRX's and STI's are sold in the Metro Detroit area. They are literally everywhere. I see probably at least 4 STI's every day and tons of WRX's

Seriously, they don't even rank in the top 20 (I don't think I could name 20 auto manufacturers off the top of my head), they make less than 1 million cars per year, there are literally 2x as many BMW's or Mercedes being made than Subaru's right now. 3x as many Peugot's, Renault's, or Suzuki's, when's the last time you saw one of those???

Edit: I guess that makes my Impreza coupe more rare than the 3 series that cost 50% more sitting next to me in traffic, so I've got that going for me...
In my area Subaru is almost non existent. This has always surprised me since it is such a perfect vehicle for Canadian weather.

And in my area, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting one.

Nope. There are 30 Subaru dealers in Ontario. Over half of them are in or near Toronto. The rest are spread pretty thin.
