it's quite more of a common practice to attach such a document instead of pasting it.

if you're trying to be a **** to make it difficult, just demand that they fax it to you.

i know for a fact that my resume has a few bullet points and word-specific formatting(that the 'experts' originally proofreading it required) that would not translate to pasting it into an email without at least an extra 0.5-1hr worth of work for a dullard like me...

my experience is that even if you use this as a reason to cut say 5 people from the 10 applicants, 4 of them will fail a drug test, leaving you with 1 realistic candidate.

ain't it sad that hiring people now is more like Survivor, than it is a test of skill?

Imagine trying to do so in a state where pot is legal.

Well, those druggies can be screened out during an interview (except in Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia).

Reminds me of a back-in-the-day story about a HR manager that would be able to tell whether or not an applicant was 18 years old or not. At the time, we couldn't hire people less that 18 years old AND we could not ask the applicant their age. So, the manager would take them to lunch, order two beers and have the waiter card them.

Control-a, Control-c, control-v is difficult? It's pretty clear that, if I want them to paste it, formatting doesn't matter. It just has to be readable.

It's a reading test. Can you overcome this basic hurdle? I've been paid to help people with resumes and cover letters. Got them jobs too. The formatting of a resume, as long as it's consistent and readable, doesn't matter.

I don't think being a drug addict or user is a protected class.

It’s not. I just wish I didn’t have to waste a couple hundred bucks on a UA every time when they are told up front they have to be able to pass a screening.

Hey, you're the one that asked:

"Do those people deserve a chance?"

I was just trying to be helpful by reading what the applicants were responding to.

So, if you don't want my insight - I'll just go take a nap!

So there! -

That's not what they beat into me in high school, or trade school. They all beat into me that proper punctuation, and bullet pointing skills/times/years were the difference between getting the job and never even getting a first interview.

Wow our school/job system is screwed up.

Hey guys. Had a wonderful Sunday. Had my very first ambulance ride, and got to spend some time in the ER.

Remember when I told you guys my new cardiologist office got all three of my heart med prescriptions wrong? thought I had it all fixed, but no, found another problem today.

I took the last of my San Jose supply of verapamil last night, and switched to my Caldwell supply this morning. My systolic pressure dropped to 75 with a pulse of 35 just as the paramedics arrived. The doctors office prescribed me 120mg instant release instead of 120mg extended release verapamil. What a Fuck up. The bottle I brought in when they took over my prescriptions was very clear it was extended release. Talk about not being able to read! The cardiologist office here screwed up 4 different ways on my prescriptions. All they had to do is copy them off my bottles I brought in from Kaiser.

I'll be making some interesting calls tomorrow. Probably one to an attorney.

They pumped me full of calcium and magnesium to get my BP and pulse out of the danger zone.

Other than that, I'm pretty healthy. Blood sugar good, kidney function good. Now if I can just get the correct meds, I should be good!
