Buying a house in Fairfield - Thoughts on North Bay?
Hey Everyone,
So my wife and I are close to pulling the trigger in purchasing our first new home together in Fairfield (Cordelia, CA) and I was wondering if the North Bay folks can chime in and provide me with your thoughts on the area. From the few times we stopped in Fairfield to the research we've done over the last few months, I know it's pretty quiet with big homes and great public schools. Is there anything else I should know about or why I shouldn't move to Fairfield? Thanks in advance! Kris |

Its not Vallejo, so your good
Fairfield is a nice area. Most of my office coworkers live up there. It is a little quiet, but thats not a bad thing. Easy to get to Vallejo for the ferry and not too bad of a drive to get to Sac. |

There are some really nice areas and some not so nice areas, just like any town. Seems very safe though.

We bought our first home out here and really enjoy the value we got. Some areas of Fairfield are nice and others can get pretty nasty... just have to know. Public schools are also very good in some areas and terrible in others. If you get into a nice area, you get a lot for your money in terms of housing. We are also close to Lake Berryessa, Suisun wine country, and Napa. Some nice places for hiking and such, some decent food but you have to find it. All in all I'm happy with the area.

Funny you ask Chris, we've looked around the area too. We've mainly looked around the Green Valley area and the developments in North Fairfield, mainly because of the schools. Both areas are nice and quiet residential areas that you have to drive to get to anywhere, so if you and the Mrs. want a date night, you pretty much have to drive ~15 mins further into town. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the feedback! It looks like we're pulling the trigger, with a move in date of early August, 2015.
@BigFatFlip if you're in need of a real estate agent, I can refer you to a great agent who knows a lot about the area. He's super detail oriented and not as pushy as some realtors out there. |

To me Cordelia is a bit different than Fairfield......for the better. Rodriguez High School had a Mexican gang issue for a while. Don't know if it's still an issue or not. Other than that it is just another small bay area town. I have family that lives in the newer homes next to 680. The area was quite for the most part. He had his car broken in to a couple of times. But that can happen anywhere.
