I've been browsing the XXR galleries for a few days now but thought I would ask here. Looking at 18x9.75 +36 with 235/40/18 tires in the rear. Lowered on stance coils. Right now they are lowered all the way down. No other suspension mods. Wondering how fitment would be in the rear. Any issues with fitting it w/o LCAs or fender mods? A little rubbing is fine but my main thing is I don't want them poking out a few inches like I've seen in some other pictures. Was thinking 8.75 +36 with 225/40 in the front so I would need a spacer to even it out with the rear? I already have the tires and handling is not the biggest concern to me as it just my daily and I don't use it for "spirited" driving. Thanks for any input.

OK, we got the wheels put on this morning. They look and fit perfectly! Thank you to Slick for the help.

I will post pictures later after it is washed.

Enkei Kojins 8.5 square setup, 245/35/18 tires, NO front spacer needed, TRD springs no coilovers

Spacers? If so could you point me in the right direction?

Would those spacers also work for new tires in the future so as long as they are the same dimensions?

Complete noob in this area so apologies for the silly questions. Thanks.
You should have no issues running a 5/16" spacer all around with your stock wheels (approx. 8mm). This will help push the wheels out a bit and fill that gap.

If you upgrade wheels, try to NOT run a spacer, focus on getting a wheel in the right size and offset instead.

I'm on TRD springs but want to get some 215/50s on my stock wheels. Will it fit without rubbing?

I know 215/55s will rub on lowering springs from this thread:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=536325

But not sure about 215/50s, any help would be appreciated!
Why would you want to go with a taller tire?
A 215/50 is 2.5% and 1" taller than your OEM tire.

If you're looking to upgrade your tires, you should be looking at 225/45R17. Wider tire, easily fits on the stock wheel, only 1/2" taller than stock.

But to answer your question, you shouldn't rub anywhere on a 215/50.

Thanks.
18" wheels, even 19" wheels fit on our cars.
The issues are:
  • correct width and offset for the wheel
  • correct size tire
Depending how wide the Advans are, here are your ideal tire size options:

7.5-8.5" wide wheel: 225/40R18
8.0-9.0" wide wheel: 245/35R18
8.5-9.5" wide wheel: 255/35R18

235/40 is not an ideal tire size for an 9.75" wheel, unless you want the stretched look (sounds like you might).

I can't see any issues with fitment as you probably have enough camber already to tuck the back wheels in. You may need LCA's, not sure.

Look over the aggressive wheels thread here as I think it is probably up your alley.

@Slick I also read that 25mm spacers would make oem wheels pretty much flush. Am I missing something? 8mm seems to make more sense, just double checking.

If you're using slip-on spacers, then go 5/16" or up to 10mm max so you still have enough threads on the studs. These spacers are about $20/set +/-.

If you want to go with bolt-on spacers, then they're about $100/set and up for a quality set like H&R or Eibach's. Ebay sets are much cheaper ($$ and quality).

You should be pretty close to flush with 25mm ones.
But I'd personally save the big expense and just flush them up a bit more with slipons.

Here is the only picture I got, had to get it in the garage before it rained.
245/35/18 8.5 square.

The only question I have is.....how close can the wheel be to the spring perch? IT IS SUPER CLOSE. I didn't use the 5mm wheel spacer as the wheel would poke if I went that direction. I would guess there is roughly 2mm clearance.

You're probably okay, since it won't get any closer anyways. (The closest part to the spring perch is the rim of the wheel). But 2mm is pretty close. An easy way to check is to use your phone and take a photo with the flash.
Here's mine when I had 245’s mounted, now I have 255's on.
