LIAR! he has plates on it... so unless it sat for a few weeks, he definitely did not not have 63 miles on it when he did that

Depends on the state. I pulled the plates off my trade-in and threw them right on my FR-S. Left the dealer with my plates on.

You are mistaken in your first part. In fact, before the car leaves the factory assembly line, it is put onto a dyno and immediately driven to redline to ensure that power figures are acceptable before it is shipped out. Also, any experienced engine builder will tell you that in order for your rings to sit properly, a gentle break-in, is NOT advisable as the pressure will force the rings OUTWARD and seal better.

The transmission is a different story, however. The gears and synchros aren't the concern so much as the clutch. After any clutch replacement, 500 miles is the general rule of thumb to go easy on it.
