The only new cars in this price bracket would be the Miata or the new Fiat roadster (aka Fiata). Nothing else in this price bracket new can touch this car's attributes at 24k. I looked. Nada.
Used a Cayman, S2000, or C6 Corvette. I am really enjoying my BRZ and keep finding reasons to drive it. More like inventing reasons. Happy to have it. |

I would still be driving my Yaris and saving up for the STI that finally gets a new engine.

Would have considered a 370z or STi but that starts getting a little pricey with all the mods I would want. More realistically would probably get a Fiesta ST and mod it to my heart's content.

Probably would of looked to import a JDM spec S15 Silvia aka 200SX. We had a AU delivered white one in the family for a few years. Taught me the value of a light car with low COG. Still a great looking car after all these years. Had a little more space inside than the twins too.

If the FR-S never existed, I probably would've gotten a MKIV or an FD3S haha.

Would have kept my Abarth... and kind of wish I did sometimes. The twins are objectively better in every way, but the Abarth has so much more character.

I would have picked up a used MX-5 and kept waiting for the car I am still going to get: GT350.
That being said, the GT350 is the only car that could tempt me away from my burz. Like many others have said, I keep finding reasons to go drive it, even hear in the land of straight roads. My wife and I are moving back to East TN soon (home for me), and I can't wait to get it up in the mountain roads where it belongs. |

M3?
370z? STI? EvoX? Mustang GT? (same with Camaro SS) These cars are not in the same price class, if they were, I would have gotten any of them. Let's be real about this... _____________ Genesis? - I had a 2.0t and had a blast with it. I had a lot of mods and it was fast as hell, but not very well made IMHO and in a slow speed accident it was totalled. I wouldn't go back, it's a dangerously flimsy car with terrible brakes, sloppy suspension, terrible ABS, SC and TC. But fun. Mini- I thought about it, but they are not reliable. I hear they handle as well as the twins though- like a go kart. But a Mini S or (but it's way too expensive) a John Cooper Works is nice. Fiat- I would not think about touching any POS that FCA has shit out. This is the least reliable car in the US right now (not opinion- it's been proven by the numbers). Dodge... ditto (FCA POS also). Mustang 2.3t- Maybe, but it's not at all the sort of car I like. However the modding community around this car will be awesome. Camaro V6- My wife has a RS and it's a nice car, but not my kind of car and heavy AF. MX-5- Kids won't fit in the trunk. TBH, the FR-S was the only car I would get for the price. It's small and agile but I can still fit my kids in it in a pinch. If I could have afforded to piss away the money, I'd have a Camaro SS. But with a 30 mile commute and Daddy Taxi services, the sticker price would only be half the problem since I rack up about 15,000 miles/year. I get twice the MPG with this than I would with an SS. My #2 choice would be an STI, but the initial cost puts it out of range right now. |
