Autoblog has about a 10% accuracy rate when speculating and the majority of their stuff is just regurgitated pap from other sites. Thanks to you I clicked their link and made them .00002 of a cent. I want my money back.
This was featured in Autoblog's rumor section. I'm hoping that there is a 2nd gen. 86/BRZ, but, it seems like at this point it's not likely due to its disappointing sales and other sport coupe models being released/proposed.

Here's an article about the rumored new generation MR2, which might be one of the reasons of the cancellation:

LOL that's a trick question. The correct answer is 'There's no room for anything else to fit between my legs.'

You guys wouldn't get thrust vectoring anyway until you experience it for yourself.

Hey now - I'm bitching and moaning about the new Supra because I don't want to buy a Bimmer in a track suit. I have money sitting in the bank that was waiting for the Supra. It's going to continue to sit there.

Let's not forget about these articles just a week or two ago....
https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/20...-nixes-the-86/
https://www.torquenews.com/1084/toyo...nce-subaru-brz
https://carbuzz.com/news/subaru-brz-...ota-86-doesn-t

"
We spoke with Subaru’s head of North American communications, Ron Kiino, at Detroit and inquired about the BRZ’s future; specifically, whether Subaru would proceed with a second-gen model if Toyota opts to drop the 86.

"The car has been great for the brand, certainly one of the halo vehicles from a performance perspective,” Kiino told us. "As far as giving customers a Subaru feel, a lightweight sports car, the boxer engine is a big part of that. For our brand we think the BRZ makes sense and we feel there’s a demand.”

When pressed about a situation where Toyota decides not to do a new 86, would that translate to an immediate death sentence for a new BRZ?

"No, it’s not an immediate death sentence,” for BRZ, Kiino clarified."

What is disappointing about the sales? Do any of the clickbaits have pictures of fields full of unsold cars? You have access to Toyota's business plan saying they wanted to sell more but didn't? Do you not think the very high paid people planning the sales numbers can figure out how many to make? Do you think they wanted to sell Corolla numbers of these things? Have you compared the numbers to other cars in class to see if just the Twins are declining? Sales numbers mean nothing. Built but not sold numbers are critical.

You are using a speculative article based on rumour to support your stand on a speculative article based on rumour.

Time will tell.

I mean ditch a 6 year old platform for an all new one.

I don’t really care either way, but one of the insiders on Supra MKV who got most of the Supra info right said that the 86/BRZ as we know it will cease production within a few years. He went on to say it could come back in the future, but personally, I doubt it...

The 86/BRZ is the best selling Japanese RWD 2-door of the last 10 years, if you go back 20 years the only car in the category that sold better was the 350Z and NB Miata.

I'm not optimistic it'll get a second life, but I wouldn't call it a failure, more of 'proof that the internet doesn't actually buy the cars they say they want'

Granted the sales for the 86/BRZ are declining. However if you look at the direct competitor the MX-5 the sales figures are not that different.

By this I mean the sale figures in 2018 for the MX5 in the US is not that far off the 86 and BRZ combined. We are talking roughly 1000 units difference give or take.

Now this is combining the sales of the BRZ and 86 in the US in 2018 and comparing it against the MX-5.

In 2018 the MX-5 sold 8,971 units
The BRZ sold 3,834 units
The 86 sold 4,133 units

Total Twins sales = 7,967 vs the MX-5 selling 8,971 units

So what this means... lol I dunno just thought I'd share this info, might not even be that correct. Didn't exactly research it more than a few mins.

However Mazda will continue to crank out MX-5s after selling that many. So it isn't impossible to imagine this platform sticking around. Now those sales being split between the manufactures and I have no idea what sort of overhead is involved with both models.

Oh yeah and the Stock market is gonna crash this month, I know some old guy from my neighborhood who isn't high up the ladder in wall street but he knows peeps. Who said we are all gonna be poor with horse and buggys very soon. So not like anyone will be able to afford a new car anyway ;P
