Thanks for the help for those of you who did, and for the rest of you thanks for the humor. And no I am not dead yet, it was a good thing I learned about electricity in school, and yes they do breed smart people in Minnesota. I havent been to school in 7 years, gimme a break.

Baking soda works to neutralize that as well. It's actually the most recommended method.

Generally the cause of this corrosion is acid slowly seeping out of the battery around the posts. It's more likely to happen if the terminals are subjected to force, such as someone using a high torque power tool to tighten the battery cables, sometimes it can tweak the terminals and weaken the seal.

After you clean the cables and terminals, it's important to use a dialectric grease or battery terminal protector spray (you can find this at any auto parts store) to prevent more acid from contacting the cables.

Or you can replace the battery, but there's no guarantee that your new battery won't also seep. Unless you have major leakage, it's not really worth it.
