Damn... Someone catch that comment lol

Actually, idk anything bout Subaru side (I only know Toyota JP). PR & PR Manager from SoA were pretty rude to our staff today laughing & mocking him. I told him to don't take it to heart, cuz Subaru don't really care bout BRZ... but whatever

Perfect timing Ichi! I just got the Sprinter Trueno / Levin TRD Bible! That translation should keep you occupied until the 2020 turbo model comes out!

On a topic note: The front end is starting to really grow on me, now that we have actual first hand pictures. I'm just curious how much fat was added to the car. It's always been my position the car has never had a HP problem, but a weight "problem". Unfortunately Toyota/Subaru can only do so much with current safety standards while keeping a respectable level of chassis rigidity for a sports coupe.

How much you gonna pay me for translation? FYI I'm not cheap lol

As for your question, they added sound deadening. To be technical they added 8kg of sound deadening & excess glue on the floor. Not sure on exact total weight difference

"San" originally comes from the 2nd character of "Mister" in Chinese (先生). To me it's like saying "Sir" in English. Two pages and nobody could explain this simply.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_honorifics

Is Toyota trying to upscale this car to have a suggestion of an European feel (in a Japanese interpreted sorta way)? I can see this with the BRZ tS (which I think it usually incorporates running changes of the standard model in the following year, like they originally added sound deadening to the tS first last year).

I thought Subaru is known for building high rigidity chassis, so I'm not surprised at the weight from the beginning with the twins. Subaru always seemed to have its benchmark set on the Germans with their product offerings (i.e. Audi and BMW).

@ichitaka05 ok, but I'm not going into full details for work related purposes.

Story goes while I was there I ran into three of their PR and PDM, seeing that this would be a perfect opportunity to ask about the BRZ I asked politely "with the twin sports cars being so popular and the 86 being here in NYIAS is there any chance we'll get to see the BRZ soon?" One manager looked confused "86?" I jokingly added "besides online" in which we all laughed, then the lead PR person went " we know how that happened and we don't care we're not going to change our schedule just because Something leaked,we'll show it when it's ready" other PR Manager laughs "are you with Subaru? Or Toyota" I answered "No just a fan of the car" they all laugh at me " we build the damn car so we don't care about them, they can't do anything unless we say so they can try to release all they want if we say no it's not happening" they all continue laughing they see me as kind of a joke, "product planning at its best" one of them said and walked away. I told them "thank you" and continued my work which was to film the new impreza and while we had our own script and opinions of the car the manager person stood there correcting us pushing words into our presenter, in an uncalled for way they even started to say things like "it's better than a Corolla it's safer" when we didn't even make any mention. There attitudes were terrible, things could have ended with "We can't talk about it" Nope it was basically I stood there getting mocked. I'd admit I might have pushed a button but as a professional how about keeping your cool. On the opposite side TOYOTA PR and team were the most amazing people I've ever met!

I thought about your comment today and just reminded myself of this car. Check out the side badge.

Sometimes I wish they would just discontinue the BRZ and let Toyota just keep their 86.

This place never fails to amaze me with what I can learn from it. Today I learnt about Japanese Honorifics. The pointless but interesting comments back and forth were the icing on the cake! Very interesting reading...

Oh and on a side note, insights into the new car from Ichi were good too !

So would you say the people working for Subaru are as proportionally full of themselves as Subaru owners?

No, If we think that way we are no better than those managers. Every tree has its bad apples, and Karma is real Subaru, Toyota , Honda it doesn't matter. You should treat another person with respect because what goes around comes around.
