Retro-style side mirrors....

I've been tossing the idea around in my head for a bit about goin for the old school Japanese wing mirror look on the twins. BUT, I can't find a picture of anyone who's done it to have a reference. I think if done properly, it would turn out pretty dope but I'd have to see it done. Anyone thought about doing this or actually done it??

(Here's a link to a picture for reference for those that don't know what I mean... http://www.motormavens.com/emAlbum/a...7976-copy1.jpg)

It was just a thought a co-worker and I tossed around when talking about old japanese car's being "reincarnated" so-to-speak. I think if don'e properly and not half-assed it might look ok....

Someone awhile back made a thread similar to this. I think they actually did it.

it could look cool if you commited to the retro look. like the retro 16" trd wheels and maybe the trd rear window louvers. then you could pull it off.

Also, I should specify that it wouldn't look right with skinny little mirrors like the picture. The picture was a reference for placement more than anything. I think if the stock mirrors were retrofitted down to the fenders and the existing mounting places blocked off correctly and not half-assed, that would be the best look IMHO.

personally i'd love to see this done tastefully on the FRS/BRZ

but i think this would be a bad idea for winter driven cars

my grandfather had a car with such mirrors, but i have no idea what it's like to drive them.

There's a reason they moved the mirrors off the fenders and onto the doors all those years back. Think about it.

I never said there wasn't a reason for it. I just like the styling of it and was curious if anyone had done it or not. After thinking about it though, my original thought of using the stock mirror would look horrid.... waaaay too big. Would have to retrofit something smaller to make it look good.

You could try the smaller "f1 style" carbon fiber mirrors.
