i don't understand why anyone would pay extra $$$ over base model for this car

first of all, Scion FR-S will be my next car to replace my IS350. but i would only get the base model. why would anyone pay upward to $30k for the same car with extra bells and whistles is beyond me. there are better choices out there for $30k, but not so much for $26k.

I care so much about what other people spend their money on that it drives me to the internet to post about it.

Saw a car go for over $37k, there were several in my area listed by the dealer for over $32k, you're in a similar area so you'll see similar things, high demand, high levels of disposable cash. There's other places that can't give them away fast enough with some members posting up BRZ's listed lower than base FRS's because the demand doesn't exist for lightweight RWD Subaru's in snow country.

Enjoy a bunch of people justifying their $900 clear bra that doesn't cover the entire hood and $60 scion decal. I agree and bought from the first dealer who could get me a base model for the base price as advertised.

Just like why anyone would want a lexus is350 over a toyota camry v6. Your life choices answered your own question without you knowing it.

On this car I agree with you, but on many I fully disagree. Sure you can add your own stuff later, but that would require cash out of your pocket. With cars you can finance upgrades and also make the resale higher while living with nicer amenities. I got a bare bones FR-S because if I hadn't I couldn't justify not getting a BRZ. I wanted the FR-S looks and feel alone, that's all I wanted to pay for.

ES is a better comparison. At least the IS is somewhat sporty in its intentions and is RWD.

OP.. Maybe because they want this car but also desire the extra amenities provided by spending a few grand more?

Why would anyone buy a lexus? It's just a overpriced Toyota.

I think a person might be able to appreciate the base model for the pure driving experience that it is. Some may want a bit more.

I would have bought this car without these items and happily paid as much.

-AC
-Power steering (I would pay extra for a manual steering rack like my Mk1 MR2s)
-Radio
-Back seats
-Power Mirrors, Windows
-Passenger side mirror
-ABS, Stabilty Cont. etc

Why would anyone buy a $26k FR-S when they can buy a $14k Yaris? Because people want certain things in a car...?
