1. I only feel the jerk of the engine when I don't rev match properly.

2. The AT is smoother because it always rev matches properly.

You were the one that brought up the word automatic to begin with. The OP never did. You always go full snowflake when you can't manipulate the conversation your way.

I suggest you trade in for a manual transmission BRZ to learn how to drive properly.

In addition, the manual has a higher drive ratio than the auto == and that has an effect as well.
dude your comment made no sense...…..did you even read what you wrote?

you're practically saying anyone who drives a manual doesn't want to drive it smoothly....

Besides, if he drives it and hates it, he will have wasted a whole day.
Neither the 2007 Eclipse nor the 98 Talon are practical cars with big engines. Those two cars are essentially in the same class as the 86 but just FWD. I used to own a 95 Eclipse GST and this car reminds me of that one so much.

They can be money pits once they get some miles on them.

It's very common on that engine, especially after 91 if I am not mistaken when mitsu switched from a 6 bolt to a 7 bolt block which is weaker from my understanding.

My dad had a 93 laser RS which he threw me the keys to every now and then. The engines in those cars sounded great from inside the cabin.

I had a great experience at a Toyota dealer and got a test drive within 5 minutes of walking in off the street.

I asked the same question at a Subaru dealer and was told that they would only let me test-drive if I put a deposit on one. They had 2 on the lot for months with rusty brake discs so obviously nobody else got to drive them. The salesman not only knew nothing about the BRZ (I expect that) but he didn't seem to know how to sell any car.

Something my dad taught me when I was young, is to go down to all the dealerships in your area (before looking for cars) and get a feel of the people and environment there. He literally took me out on a day trip once when I was 16 just to go to the two auto mall areas near us to just go test drive cars and gauge the sales people. He ended up finding out who was a good seller and who didnt know jack shit. 3 years later he went back to the Honda dealer and talked with the salesperson he networked with years ago and got a brand new 2012 Honda Civic LX for 10k.

I took that story to heart and when I moved to Livermore before I bought my BRZ I went down to the Subaru dealership just to test drive what they had and shoot the shit. Ended up meeting an awesome guy who a year later would sell me my BRZ. When I went there the first time he leet me test drive a 2015 BRZ Limited and a WRX limited, I went there a year later got my BRZ, when the 2017 PP and Series yellow came out he let me test drive those as well.

I mentioned I might want a WRX. He quoted me 25k out the door for one brand new with the options I wanted.

Moral of the story. Build those relationships. And try to do it when you aren't looking for a car. Thats who you know the good sales people are. The shady ones are the ones who only care if they are getting a sale that day. The good ones know that by nurturing the relationship, they will get that sale from you, and from all the referrals you will make.

Yes I did. Enjoyed the drive very much found the sound being pumped into the cabin to be annoying and unnecessary but I understand that can be corrected by removing the sound pipe. However the trunk opening is to small. My golf bag had to be squeezed to fit it the opening. I am retired and golf several times a week just would not be worth the hassel. So did I hate the car NO, just doesn't fit my life style.

You can correct that more easily by taking the cigarette lighter cap out of the hidden lighter plug inside the glove box and inserting the cap into the sound tube grommet in the passenger foot well. No tools required. It's actually made to fit there so you can cap off that stupid noise without removing anything from the car.
