Help me pick an exhaust - Flowmaster, Invidia, Greddy?

Hi all,

If you've read my notoriously controversial Manzo exhaust thread, you know I'm going to be looking at a different exhaust. I've made a selection of different exhausts from @Redline360 below, and wanted YOUR opinion on which of them would be the best for the money (ranked by price):

I've ordered them by price, not preference. If a cheaper one could produce the sound I want, I'd be all for it, but if moving up a little bit in price gets me a much better quality exhaust, then I'd do that, too.

Flowmaster - $498.00 shipped

Invidia N1 - $582.40 shipped

GReddy SP Elite - $583.04 shipped

Invidia Q300 - $682.50 shipped

GReddy Evolution Evo3 - $788.00 shipped

I'd also like to hear what people think about dual pipes versus a connected muffler. Plus, if I've left a pipe off the list that you think is best, I'd love your opinion.

Basically, I'm looking for a quality pipe with a low growl and minimal drone. Loud pipes do not scare me, however.

Thanks for the help, all!

- Irky

I would stick with the Manzo and see if a shop can bend some stuff to make it fit perfect, only because it has the sound you are looking for.

N1 is probably best bang for your buck for loud and deep growl. Only issue is it drones a lot on a stock header. The drone is less on an aftermarket UEL but is still there some. Nice weight reduction, perfect fitment, and looks good with the Ti burnt tips. Very popular exhaust on several japanese cars.

To reduce drone, you need to stick to the axleback muffler designs that are transaxle, and not dual canister. Most of those sound pretty quiet till you start upgrading the front half of the exhaust.

Perrin Unresonated is a good choice if you're only wanting a catback and nothing else.

I like the Perrin and the Evo3 a lot over the ones I heard. The Perrin is more expensive than the evo3 but I think I'd still go with the Perrin

Spend the money go Perrin, 3" if you can afford it. Resonated vs non is up to you. Like others have said, a significant percentage of the noise you get comes from headers and front pipe. A CBE will only change things so much. a loud as F CBE can become a headache if you change headers etc later on.

Manzo V1, I just installed mine, fits prefect. Its a Q300 replica I think.

I think its only the Evo replica (V2) that fits bad it appears.

The Corsa catback. From the way it sounds at cruise and WOT it'll make you shiver in your jimmies.

You are correct. I have the V2 and fitment is sub-par, but can be fixed.

greddy evo3 has great low deep end tone but depending how u define drone it may not be for you. the exhaust is not exactly quiet at speed. until over 75mph you will hear the exhaust a good amount humming away

I just installed the invidia cat-back, very easy to install if you know anything about modding cars, even a little.
Sounds awesome driving down the road; breaking even more necks then before.

Again, for the best bang for your buck loud and deep growl, the Invidia N1 is the way to go. Sure there will be a slight drone going around 65-70 mph, but the sound is just too orgasmic to put off! Don't get the EVO 3 unless you're going turbo, because that cat back will drone pretty much throughout your cruising range and it's super loud haha.

I have no shame admitting that I'm very new to modding - what's the difference between resonated and non-resonated?
