Why not just go supercharged/turbo? Just curious.

10k for a semi reliable set up, and even then all the headache.
Then if your car gets into an accident, your insurance won't cover mods... I know I know, you gotta pay to play.

I'm thinking the recipe would be better with a cheap track car and nice daily instead though.
Still undecided unless someone comes and takes my expensive parts off my hands soon.

Major issues =/= some A350 bolts rattling loose. My car has been rock solid aside from that and a potential tune issue

I've seen broken down Porsches, S2000's, and BMWs on the side of the track and exactly zero smoking 86s. I saw a GT3RS blow up right in front of me at an event on Saturday.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what car you use. You're going to break stuff if you heavily track your car.

If we want to use anecdotal evidence, I know a guy who is a very fast driver with the FRS being dedicated track toy, and he went through 3 motors. 2 while NA, and 1 after the Harrop supercharger.

I know a friend who is on an edelbrock, never raced the car, and his car has been down for a year.

I know another friend who went JDL, had oil temp issues until he went e85, and counted the days until he had to build the engine.

The point is, I personally think there are better cars out there that can take more an abuse or be cheaper on the wallet when problems arise.
This isn't to say the 86 platform isn't amazing for what it is. Maybe I'm jaded

You mentioned Yosh's car...

Either way, I feel like my reliability wouldn't be too much different if I occasionally tracked the car.

Sorry about the late bump!
I'm most likely getting a 981 cayman s or gts.
I have considered getting into another clean s2000 for a tuner build.
Not sure yet! For now I'm driving a 92 miata.
