While I agree that turbos are the clear winner on paper (and in reality), some people just prefer superchargers. It's a matter of personal preference. Superchargers are often easier to install and cheaper than building out a whole turbo setup with supporting mods. Some like the sound. The response argument is kinda moot with 12.5:1 compression, but regardless some still perceive that as a benefit.

Different strokes man. The real question would be why does it bother you so much? It's not your car/money....

Let me ask you guys this. If you want to have a screamer...lets say 9k rpm....wouldn't a supercharger be the best option? I'm assuming that a supercharger would be better for top end?

Appeal of SC kits is quick, out of the box performance with a dialed in tune.

Turbo is more of a project.

I'm leaning towards SC simply because I can't deal with a project right now.

I've owned turbo cars all my life. Wanted to try something different.

I'm quite happy with my Innovate kit. At least for now

I debated between the Innovate and PTunings turbo kit, which I had every intention of buying at first. But, seeing as this is my DD, and I didn't want a turbo on there capable of 500whp, I decided against it.

The fact is this motor is NOT proven yet. I don't care how many forum experts say this motor is great, no one knows long term how it will react to F/I.

I've owned a 470whp STi, and sure its fun as hell but I did not want to worry about my BRZ blowing up, plus as a DD its just not needed. I'm over the "who's D is bigger" game when it comes to power.

Now if I had another car maybe i'd be singing a different tune here, but I weighed out my options, decided I wanted a somewhat reliable fun DD with a bit more power, and thats where I ended up.

not really. superchargers are often limited by compressor rpm, which itself is directly proportional to engine rpm. there really is no area (of performance) in which a supercharger is superior to a modern, well-matched turbocharger. that doesn't mean they don't have a niche though... like others have said their benefits lie mostly in cost/packaging/install/ease of tuning.

For me the turbo setup is way too much trouble.

When i upgrade to FI I know I don't need insane power levels and i want to keep my car atleast for 4 years. The SC supporting mods are easier and the whole routing/setup is much simpler and this is what closes the deal to me. I don't want to deal with an aftermarket setup that is too complex, as that will only give me headaches down the road.

Are you serious.. Read up on the basic differences before you go off sounding all ignorant and offending. There are advantages and disadvantages to both systems.. Depending on your goals.. Stupid to start a thread like this before knowing the basics..

I'm personally a turbo guy myself because I love hearing the turbo start to spool and then get that punched in the chest feeling when the boost kicks in. With that said, superchargers have no lag, they are much easier to tune, you don't have to worry about boost spikes/boost creep and boost controllers that can malfunction and blow your engine to pieces when your turbo spools up to 35psi, and a superchargers whine is damn sexy

Every single turbocharged vehicle I've ever driven had some amount of lag. There's nothing worse than lag in my opinion. Although I'm in the minority of people who think that the twins have plenty of power stock (Driving 10/10ths is a blast), if I were to go FI, it would be supercharged no doubt about it. Nothing worse than turbo lag, nothing better than linear power delivery with gobs of low end torque.

Something tells me the OP is on the younger side age wise........wisdom will find you grasshopper.
