I'm in NY and there were exactly *3* on the whole East coast built the way I wanted. One each in MA, PA, and FL. So it was take one of those (minimum 160 miles away) or wait a few months for an allocation to be built for one of the 8 local dealerships... It was a lovely road trip home in the new car.
Buy base model, get the factory mods used on the forum for cheap

We don't really have much options here in the Philippines other than to order from Japan. The only units left is a Red M/T and a White A/T which came from cancelled transactions.

I'm really set on getting the White M/T but since I badly wanted to get it now, I even thought about getting the White A/T. Turns out it's pre-built w/ TRD kits which costs about 15-20% more so that's a big no for me. Heck, I almost went for the Red M/T (no offense to Red owners)! Then I thought that it would be a waste if I didn't went with my first option. I'll just have to wait for more than 3 months for it to arrive

I asked some managers from the dealers here and they said that toyota won't be releasing a new 86 next year here in the Philippines. Anyway, thanks for all your input!

Or, the first gen with shoot up in value 'cuz they messed with the new version way to much. Sort of a 50/50 chance at this point.

I doubt a face lift can be drastic enough to ruin the car, and will probably bolt on to 1st gen anyways

The history of sports cars have shown that generally cars get heavier and more watered down with each successive generation. This refresh should be mostly cosmetic and the "upgrades" should be retrofitable to current gen cars.

I'll be able to get the car this wednesday! They suddenly have an available unit even though they kept on saying before that there won't be any new units coming any time soon. I feel like a kid again getting a new toy

That is the question.
Whether 'tis Nobler in the mind to suffer
The Slings and Arrows of outrageous Fortune,
Or to take Arms against a Sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them: to die, to sleep
No more; and by a sleep, to say we end
The Heart-ache, and the thousand Natural shocks
That Flesh is heir to? 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep,
To sleep, perchance to Dream; aye, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come,

What year is your car? I got a new 2015 and it was quite easy to find the model I wanted I just went down the street to the next Toyota dealer in PA.

Especially in Toyota's case it can be slightly seen with the current gen 2015s being "less" prone to oversteer.

It's a '15, but purchased in August of '14 plus I wanted UM, 6-spd, no options which is why it was so hard to find. Was hoping for winter tires too because I knew I was buying Direzza's for summer driving anyway but that wasn't a deal breaker. Went to Peruzzi Toyota in PA for it.
