Love the plates! Didn't you also used to participate on IWSTI or NASIOC, @chanomatik? Your forum name rings a bell from elsewhere.

In Colorado sales tax is paid on the difference between the net trade in and the selling price of the new vehicle. For example: If your trade in is worth $15K but you owe $5K, the net trade in is $10K. If your new car is $30K and you trade in your old one, you pay tax on the difference ($20K). Because you only paid sales tax on the difference, California feels empowered to collect the rest. If California did not do this, everyone would buy cars across the border to avoid the additional tax. The Fun, Sun, Bikini's and Traffic must be worth a whole lot of money to some 'cause the California taxes are out of control.

Where you got screwed is the 1 year rule. You bought a car 13 months ago, came to visit your parents last week and decided to move back to take care of them. Apparently the DMV genius is on commission for not understanding the situation.
This didn't actually even come into play for me, since I did a private party sale on my old car and actually sold it several months after I'd already bought the BRZ. CO sales tax is just a lot lower than CA, I'm afraid. Still, good to know that there are even more ways to be over-taxed in good old California!

The best part is, even after collecting all this money, we're still broke all the time! CA is the best place to live, but man is this state a mess.

Thanks! Having owned several Subies, I've posted around: LegacyGT.com, SubaruForester.org, IWSTI, NASIOC, RS25, i-Club and all over the place here. I've kept the same screen name since about 1999. hahaha Here's my thread on NASIOC: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2416781

I have oversized 245/45R18 tires, so lock-to-lock I rub. Would need smaller sidewall or narrower tires. I'm looking to get Eibach Sportline lowering springs on stock fitment tires (245/40R18), so I should be sitting pretty then.

They are 18" 2013 STI Limited BBS wheels. 18x8.5 on spacer adapters. Weigh about 20 lbs.

Looks really sharp man. I was joking with the dealer if we could just swap the wheels and engine out of the WRX we would have a deal. Not really a fan of the stock rims.

Thanks! Yeah, that's the way to go! 2015 WRX FA20DIT would be PERFECT in the BRZ. You're giving me ideas...

The FA20DIT would be the same as our FA20. You'd have to remove the top-mount intercooler and relocate the turbo, which would mean new headers as well. At this point, you've just got a DI-only FA20 with turbo kit.... and this is better than our FA20 D4S with turbo kit how?

Because the engine would still be OEM! You're right, though. I enjoy that our FA20 is both port AND direct injected. I'd modify my stock engine long before swapping to that.

I take that as a negative point. Wouldn't be worth the price you'd pay, and it wouldn't be warranty-able either b/c it wasn't an OEM-option engine for the car.

Might as well spend less, use stock block, and put a turbo kit on it. But that's just IMHO.

I edited my post after you quoted it, but basically I agree with you. It was a joke playing on the assumption that you knew I was going for an OEM look to my car. I'm apparently part of an elite club.

I have faith in the current engine. I doubt I'll ever go forced induction, but who knows.
