These are not exclusive products of SF. If you think they are lying to sell more then just buy (or don't buy) from somewhere else. These are independent test. It's not like they developed their own air filter and claimed a 40whp gain...

I didn't say anyone is lying, I'm just pointing out that the results are not in line with results obtained by other entities. I thought we're all here to protect the members, seek the truth, and be objective regarding all empirical data.

Sorry if 5hp seems like a lot. I agree it is as well but we posted what we found on a quick dyno testing session. Again this was a 4th gear run so not sure if that showed above average gains of those running in another gear? I'm not sure. Either way the results were cool to see. Every single one of us were joking about how it would make no power or decrease power and after the first filter our jaws literally dropped. Take the test with a grain of salt, I do, but after seeing the stock filter, and being present for all the runs I have more faith that drop in filters do actually help. To the what extent, well that can be debated. |

any chance you can re-dyno, doing 3 pulls stock, and 3 with each filter, to see the variances?

We will do this for the intake testing though as that will be far more interesting. |

Wait, sorry if this offends but:
3 stock dynos: 30-45 mins Swap filter: 5 mins Cool down: 30 mins 3 aftermarket filter dynos: 30-45 mins You're looking at a maximum of 2 hours of time here. I know it seems like I'm trolling but if you want people to buy your stuff and they are asking for proper dyno results, it would be beneficial for you to do them this small favor. It's not like anyone is asking you to install/uninstall a full exhaust and redyno. It's an air filter.

It would end up going down like this. Anyone around a dyno a fair amount can agree I would think, but again maybe they are Flash Gordon and can rock it out faster. 1. Arrive 2. BS with the guys for 20 mins, look car over, eat donuts, drink coffee. 3. Strap car down. 20 mins easy. Have to line things up, double check straps, and etc. 4. Boot PC, attach spark read out on a HOT car. 5. 3 Base runs ( 20 mins 5 mins cool down in-between ) 6. Cool down, filter change and BS time ( 15 mins ) 7. 3 Filter HKS Runs ( 20 mins 5 mins cool down in-between ) 8. Cool down, filter change and BS time ( 15 mins ) 9. 3 Filter aFe Dry Runs ( 20 mins 5 mins cool down in-between ) 10. Cool down, filter change and BS time ( 15 mins ) 11. 3 Filter aFe Oiled Runs ( 20 mins 5 mins cool down in-between ) 12. Cool down, filter change and BS time ( 15 mins ) 13. 3 Filter K&N Runs ( 20 mins 5 mins cool down in-between ) 14. Cool down, filter change and BS time ( 15 mins ) 15. 3 Filter APEXi Runs ( 20 mins 5 mins cool down in-between ) 16. Cool down, filter change and BS time ( 15 mins ) 17. Unstrap Car ( 30 mins ) 18. Edit Photos ( 60 mins ) 19. Dyno Plot work, uploading, and etc (30 mins) 20. Creating thread, preview 20 times before submitting ( 60 mins ) Total - 430 minutes / 60 mins = 7 Hours of work for the thread. (This thread took an arrival time of 9am and a departure time of 11am at the dyno, plus a solid hour of photo / thread time. 3 Hours in total. ) Again this is a sub $50 item. Maybe a little too much research for such a simple item? Full intakes, you bet there will be much more strict runs and comparisons. Off to bed. I'll hit this up first thing in the morning. |

I am, by no means, an expert, but, shouldn't the dyno run be in 5th gear, since it is a 1:1 ratio? Again, that is my understanding of running a dyno, but I have no experience with dynos...

I honestly think as long as the baseline is done on the same gear, it does not matter much.

Also, IMHO a simple under $50 part is being extremely overanalyzed and nit-picked. Take the results for what they are. A modest HP gain on a low price part. I don't think anyone else should need any more information on drop in filters.
