Well, speedometer is one thing, your car will also be 1.8cm higher of the ground than with the stock wheels, aswell as having a 1.8cm higher tireflank giving it a more "offroadish" look.

There is ofc performance impact on this (accelleration and cornering) however its in the lower % range, so I doubt you will actually notice a big difference.

No clue about the "bumber tab" thing, 255 will fit in the rear with no modifications

255/40 is a size people run on 17's and is not ideal on 18's.
Stock 215/45-17 is about 24.6/24.7 inches tall. 255/40 is 26 inches tall. 25inches or so is a good size, +/- a half inch a so(2-3%).
26 inches is pushing it, it is a mustang(aka bigger car) size.
Performance impact, they will be taller and make your gearing longer, about 4%.
They won't rub because of width, more likely they will rub because of height.
Bumper tab is the area that connects the bumper to the rear fender/quarter panel.
You also might rub on the side markers up front.

Every car is slightly different.
9.5's are difficult on stock struts without major poke.
225/40/18 is a better tire size diameter wise. 225/45 are for 17's. Tires will be stretched quite a bit.
You may need a 3-5mm spacer up front.
Wheel will poke out quite a bit.
Clearance on a +38 9.5 is around 10mm on stock suspension.
+35 gives you 3 more mm.
BUT lowering gives you camber which takes that all away.

Will it fit? Probably with a spacer.
Will it fit good? Probably not.
Is it safe?

I'm lowered on Sportline springs right now just to get rid of the wheel gap until I get coils, I don't really care about poke and I know it will be stretched a little, but do you think I will rub when I turn at full lock ? That's the only thing I don't want to happen

My reply to you was about width.
Now read my post #3138 about tire height. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...postcount=3138
Go look up your tire height.
And then go outside with a ruler and figure out if that difference in height and clearance.
Soft suspension, combined with tall tires means your suspension would move more than a firmer setup(coilovers).
If you wanna look cool , you gotta take chances, or just buy coils and a correct tire and wheel size.
You are cutting it close with width and diameter.
Good luck.

Shouldn't rub. I have 18x8+45 with 245/35 front no rubbing. I would suggest a 225/40/18 over the 225/45, because the 225/45 is 1.35 inches taller than stock. Too much. The 225/40 is already a 1/2" taller, so it will help fill the gap and be closer to stock diameter. The rule of thumb is +/-%3 or less.

Just bought my FRS and I don't know much about sizing etc. I'm trying to learn which is why I'm here lol. I was looking at getting some new tires and rims so I guess My question is, would these fit?
Tires: Hankook rs3 255/35 r18
Rims: Advan Racing - GT 18x8.0 Offset:45 Bolt pattern: 5x100
If those don't fit then what would you guys recommend? Remember, I don't know much so I'm learning lol. Thanks in advance guys.

245/35 is as big as I would go on an 18x8 +45. (This is what I have) It is so close to rubbing, the 255/35 won't fit, and look pinched. Don't do it.

The RS3 is also wider than normal. A 225/40 might fit best. Do you AutoX? If not, you may want another tire for longevity. It is soft and wears faster than other street tires.

Good luck!

I don't AutoX. Sorry, I'm still very new to all of this. I drove a 2002 Chevy Cavalier before my FR-S .

So a 225/40 18x8.0 45 will be a good fit then? I want the off-set to be lined up with the sides if that makes sense. I don't want it to be really close to rubbing the wheel well. What tire would you recommend? I was looking at the Proxy T1 Sport. Would they be better?

Looks to be the same as @Leonardo but I am not sure if lowering will affect/how much @Leonardo is lowered. This was as close as I could get to stock radius: http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-...5R17/245-35R18

Enkei Ts-10
18x8
+45

245/35/18 either S-04s or PSS for the tires which don't seem to run super wide.

Lowered ~20mm on the RCE Yellows. ~-.5 camber in front, ~-2.5 camber in rear, with stock LCAs.

Thanks
