agreed. R53 > R56.

One was a driver's car. The other is a blob.

Slow down people. Read the full thread discussion.

That is all PURE SPECULATION.

The whole purpose of the D4-S and combined spray pattern is to eliminate the need for combustion turbulence (TGVs). The Hitachi injectors will not happen either due to Denso/Toyota/Yamaha patents on the D4-S, unless Toyota has changed its business relationship with Hitachi recently (doubt it due to the % of Denso they own).

Now the only way these would be reasonably expected changes were if they were perhaps putting in that little 1.6T (which was DI but not the D4-S system) they showed beside the FA20 a while ago that everyone seems to have forgotten about...

Turbo?

Sorry guys but it's kind of crazy to be disappointed that they are making improvements year to year on this car just because you decided to buy it right when it came out. It's pretty much common knowledge around here that no matter which company it is, the first year of production will always have little quarks.

On another note, technology is always advancing especially in the automotive sector so how could you expect it to stand still when the car manufacturer's are competing with each-other at every moment of a given year.

Just my 2cents.. Thanks for posting the changes i was curious to see because by the time I order my FR-S it will be the 2014 model (just the timing worked out this way for me otherwise I would have really considered the 2013 regardless of the little issues here and there).

Maybe another reason to wait until 2014 until issues and changes get sorted out. Besides 8+6=? lol

I figure buying a 2014 would have must meant spending one less year enjoying the car and having to wait one more year for the warranty to expire so I can do whatever I want to it.

Once aftermarket options open up, I'm doubting any major differences in performance capability from any of the changes we've heard rumors of. Unless they decide to totally change their stance on the whole forced induction thing there doesn't seem to be much they could do to really piss me off. The car's already making 100 hp/liter, they can't go much past that and keep the car at it's current price point, and I'm not planning on leaving the suspension stock forever, so that leaves the interior/exterior looks and quality as the only thing they could change to really affect my personal feelings about the car. And coming from a 99 Impreza wagon, I'm easy to impress on the interior side.

I don't know why you would want tgv valves anyways go look around the wrx forums its one of the common things to remove from the car when modding it. So not sure how this could be a performance increase. Now the changes to the direct injection could make a little difference mainly the chirping noise but it doesn't really bother me. Doubt it will give any notable HP gains.

Thing about the Japanese and especially automakers is, they are never satisfied with what they build. Always trying to improve the car or find a way to build the same car and make more profit.

Kaizen....to know it is to never expect things to stay the same.

I'm in the camp that says a lot of cool cars get watered down as the years go by. Weight increases, handling altered, etc.

I drive a 2003 Miata, I was so convinced that I would like the 2012 car I worked out all the financial stuff before going to the dealer. Before signing anything I asked to drive the car. Didn't like it. Not that the old car was head-and-shoulders better, but the new one was disappointing. So, I wouldn't fret too much about buying a first year car. If you like it, that's what counts.

As fas as liquid cooled egr I'm happy we don't have that. Ive seen many trucks blowing coolant out the exhaust and very expensive parts. I wouldn't mind have that tumble vortex generator thingyamadodad .

Who cares. Its like anything, you wait to long and the next best things is always around the corner. I am happy and the only thing I want is a TRD super charger. Give me 250HP and 200TQ and I will be in heaven all while not increasing weight much and keep gas mileage close to stock.

I went through this with my Toyota 4Runner. I traded it for the FR-S. I wasn't using it as it was intended for. But anyways it was a 2010 model and i was nice and happy with it, toyota had just changed the body style and redesigned it. Well one year later after so many complaints being the first run of the new 4Runner they go and improve many things on the 2011+ models. At first it aggravated me but i was happy with mine. I got the dealer to replace many items from my 2010 and install 2011 parts such as the headlights and other things. Maybe Scion will do the same. I'm happy with the FR-S.
