Yes - yes there are safety precautions you must take before even thinking of attempting the very technical "burnout".

1) Make sure you have a will because you will probably die
2) Make sure you have life insurance that is up-to-date
3) Make sure there is nothing in your oven
4) Make sure all animals and children have proper supervision while you are entering "The Zone"
5) Make sure you have splatter proof pants
6) Put on your +2 undies of self-confidence
7) Put on your +3 cod-piece of Hoonage
8) Adjust your helmet
9) 5-point harness
10) Over inflate the tires
11) Drink 2 Redbulls
12) Put 3 or 4 new stickers on your car
13) Flash some Vs at nearby cameras
14) Make a stop to the restroom to get rid of additional weight
15) Get an AVO turbo (ding!)
16) NoS - Gonna need at least a double-shot
17) Be inside the car
18) Pedal Dancing with The Stars
19) Fill Tank with rocket fuel
20) Spray ground with Extra Virgin Olive Oil
21) Turn up VH Runnin with the Devil
22) Install positraction and a Hurst shifter
23) Wheelie bars
24) Sleep at a Holiday Inn Express the night before
25) Eat your Wheaties
26) Start the car
28) Grab the wheel as hard as you can
29) Put on your gloves
30) Grab the wheel as hard as you can again
31) Rev the engine menacingly
32) Have self-doubt
33) Have tuner enable in rev-limiter
34) Go back through all these steps again
35) Realize the parking lot will be too small
36) Rent an airstrip
37) Get Goose and Iceman to do a fly-over
38) Say a prayer
39) Don't Forget To Drink Your Ovaltine
40) Text your loved ones
41) Put down the clutch
42) Rev it up
43) Check your instrumentation panel
44) Disable your airbags
45) Wave at the pit crew
47) Deploy bleach
48) Pop The Clutch
49) Enjoy the little tire squeak
50) Post video to youtube

I took my brz out in the rain a couple days ago and just can't keep it sideways, ive drifted a turbo'd 240 before but i just cant slide this car as easily... Because of less power maybe?

if you learned to drift using power I can see how it would be a tough transition. momentum, thats all you need...

Poor technique.

If I had a longer sweeper I can slide it all day.

This was without clutch kick... if I clutch kick, zero issues sliding.
Engine is stock except for Crawford BPB.

Bring a fire extinguisher. You will either fry your brakes, your clutch or your tires depending on how well you execute the burnout, and any of those may catch fire.

Let me say it nicer then:

@DavidBob it's not because of lack of power. It's because you are using poor technique to induce/maintain a slide in your car. I can slide perfectly fine with my stock engine/drivetrain (with addition of Crawford BPB).

Yes, it was from Vegas Drift event back in May.

I've never been a huge fan of Torsen diff in drifting, my transitions left/right are sloppy because the diff is borderline like an open diff when you go sharply from one direction to another.

Yeaa throwing it from left to right is really aggressive to say the least lol i get thrown around in the car, it tries to like snap back into going straight. I dont know if that makes sense

Buy some cheap used WRX wheels with crap tires and go drift around on those. It's so much more fun, and a lot less worrying than burning up my stock tires. This car is easy enough to slide around without having to add much power.

Sorry to ask, but you DID disable TC/VSC right?

I tried to spin the car in a parking lot in the rain and it refused to do so with TC/VSC in the default state.
With the TC/VSC disabled (5 sec press), you can slide, but you can feel the car fighting the slide somewhat.

After the pedal dance, I filpped end for end a few times (on purpose of course).
