lol yeah thanks for the link that made for some awesome reading while on the elliptical.

dang glad I didn't go with a tune or Visconti FF package... I hope anyone in the Bay Area who has the FF kit checks it out asap and makes sure it doesn't happen to them.

Well this whole "scandal" doesn't really indicate that tuners are bad, or that FF kits are bad, just that Visconti is sketchy and really, you could see that from reading his posts.

There are good tunes, good tuners, good FF kits out there for the FA20. You just have to be smart about it. Hell, the EJ engine has been around for awhile now and I'm sure there are still shitty tuners out there blowing them up.

yeah good point. I should change my statement to "glad I didn't go with a Visconti tune or Visconti FF package". I had heard from people (customers) firsthand that the guy's a jerk. He may be a tuning genius for all I care but if his people skills and customer service stinks I am going to give it a pass. I've been "burned" (not literally) in the past by trusting "tuners" who messed up my car.

Everyone who races to volunteer their car for "free" or "discounted" product in exchange for letting someone "tune" their car should think long and hard about every possibility before jumping into it. Yes the best possible outcome is that you get a cheap or free product that makes more power or adds value to your car or makes you look cool. But how many of them consider the worst possible outcome as a possibility and include that in the cost/benefit analysis? Evaluate the entity you are dealing with and say, will they do the right thing if it all goes to shit? Caveat emptor and all that jazz...

I don't want to be the R&D mule for anything!!!!!!!!

I'll tune my car at some point, but not yet even. Plus I'd go with a much larger tuner like Perrin.

Well said. I'm going to wait it out and see who the best tuners are, who's still around after a few years with great feedback, etc and even then I'll still be cautious. Buying something right away from an unproven vendor, where they obviously rushed the product to market is a big no-no.

That said, that thread is pretty epic. Very hard to resist the puns, even you couldn't resist (being "burned").

I agree! Wait it out til the product is fully tested, and there are actual install instructions and pages of feedback. There's a reason why Perrin took awhile to come out with a tune - they have a reputation to protect and want to make sure they get it right the first time.

Ugh my commute home just got a lot worse thanks to school being back in session. Used to just cruise home, now I gotta worry about everyone trying to get to class, campus cops patrolling everywhere, etc. Plus all the coffee places are busy in the morning now! Damn kids, why you gotta go to school anyway...

OMG, that sucks! I'm so sorry! WTF is wrong with people?? Maybe if it's a small enough area that is starting to crack you could paint over it with the two stage touch up paint and try to "seal" it. All the Subaru colors are available on ebay. I would lend you mine if we shared the same color.

Speaking of paint, I washed the car, clayed every inch, and then used this "Tech Shine" wax tonight.

Had to since my hood was covered in strange red sploches - acid rain?? It did NOT come off easy even with the claybar.

Also took the opportunity to add another sticker, in support of my Raceseng prototype cam plate which stopped my oil leak. +5 hp bitches!
