Find an end spot and hug the shit out of the side where no one else can park next to you...I've never been dinged this way. All my car dings are from when an end spot isn't available...

Exactly what I did this morning. Didn't work, again. Now I have a dent in the driver's door of my pristine '07 FJ Cruiser that despite hundreds of off-road miles through forests, fields, streams, deserts and beaches has only suffered damage in parking lots from careless assholes.

I waited for the beater CRV driver to show but had to leave for another appointment. I doubt they'd have accepted responsibility anyway even though the paint left was a match to the scrape on their door edge.

I admit thinking of revenge while waiting but took the high road.

On one hand it seems so petty to go after someone for a small ding on a door. On the other hand, it's still damage to your otherwise pristine property.

People that are careless in any regard should be punished for their actions. This goes beyond driving. Everyone has the mentality that nothing bad will come of their actions so long as they are within the law. That includes being rude and selfish to other drivers or people around them. Karma is considered merely as a superstition and people no longer fear what their community will think of them. They lack respect for other people in general or are too stressed / busy to care.

...stuff just got deep. hahah.

@Turgin8er @torqdork

You guys must have parked by some really special idiots then. If the end spot thing doesn't work, we're all screwed....

No dings yet but still an issue

Car never sees other cars in parking lots, however to achieve this usually results in me having to walk an extra distance with my lovely wife questioning my love for her or the car. Can't win.

and I like parking my car next to nice luxury cars 'cause those are the people that usually care about door dings. Plus if somebody decides to vandalize or steal a car, they'd prob go for a higher class car... hopefully.

When ever I drive the Buick... I will park next to a BRZ or sports car if I see one out at the end of the lot. If there isn't one, I park out there anyhow.

My sports car is only used on weekends.

It protects the car I park next to and I never get a dent on mine after 15 years.

Parked pretty far away from human civilization and OF COURSE someone parks next to you.

I honestly believe that some people feel more comfortable parking next to someone else, while not wanting to drive around looking for a spot. I've seen people pull up next to me when i parked far away from everyone else, and they seem to never have any bad intentions. The other day i had a car full of old ladies park next to me when i parked away from everyone else and there were plenty of spots in the lot. it really aggravated me even though they were a good distance away from me and i'm pretty sure they had no idea that i parked away from people for a reason.

Love this thread. I will park way in the middle of nowhere and some hillbilly driving a humongous truck will inevitably park right beside me. WTF?! Is it the inbreeding that caused their retardedness? As soon as I see that some redneck in a truck parks beside the smallest sports car in the parking lot, I instantly flip out and start blurting profanities like I have tourrettes (spell?).
