Why did you get a BRZ?

Figured I'd ask, and might as well add to this, what else were you looking at? I already got a Ram as mentioned, and all that's left for my Audi is K04-R and upgraded Center and Rear Diff, though since I don't need a sedan anymore, might fix it and then sell it for a down payment. Was thinking of a Jeep, but already got a 4x4, even if I use it for Work and never owned a coupe, while I don't necessarily need to speed, just want a fun little toy I'll notice the difference once modding (And never owned a manual rwd car before) That's just me, hbu? |

Only reason I got this pos was of a good deal. And kind of promised myself if Toyota ever made a rwd sports car I'll buy one.
Other cars I was looking at was a base Camero V6, Audi S5, WRX, Forester, BMW 330. Had I knew the full retard fan boy following this pos platform has I would never have bought it. But that's my personal opinion, blah blah blah blah. It's almost as good as my Turbo MR2 but not really.

I got the brz because it looks and handles, where the genesis coupe i was dead set on, or the eclipse i had before only looked like they handled, but went flaccid the moment they went into a turn.
And it had heated seats, and looked better than those crummy fr-s'!

In retrospect, I see that I have been heading towards this car for a long time...I enjoyed a couple of F-bodies, a 2004 GTO then a C5 FRC. I then trended toward some lighter cars (bunch of Hondas: Integra GSR, RSX, TSX TL, Prelude). Wanting to try a turbo, I bought a Mazdaspeed3 which led to getting a Mazdaspeed Miata. Once there, I fully committed to lightweight RWD cars. The BRZ only made perfect sense. It's nearly the only car that feels fantastic to drive just going in a straight line. It has a great driver's position, pedal and shifter placement, a great view across the hood. I love the handling (the PP is more comfortable than the suspension in my FR-S). Once you get into some turns, the car takes on a whole new level of fun. It is intuitively easy to drive at the limit, it never surprises me. The Corvette is the only car I feel similarly about.

I can only give one reason? This is the most fun you can have in a car.
Or can I list them? - Quick (in the corners; I'm tired of the hp war) - Great steering feel - Good MT feel - Great looks - Surprisingly practical - Surprisingly efficient - No major functional or design concerns even after 7 years of ownership - I can trade cars with friends who have much more expensive cars than me - It's cheap enough I don't have to worry about it in the parking lot (yes I've been struck with a shopping cart even though I always park in the back; life happens) - World Rally Blue |

Why did I buy a BRZ? Because my wife had one of these 20 years ago and I was looking for a similar experience.
I know, her's was AWD Turbo and mine is NA RWD. But, just sitting in a BRZ gives me the feeling I was looking for. I fit it! Everything is where I need it to be. I will address the lack of power issue later. As to new or used I went new to take advantage of the .5% interest offered. (Actually, this is my second BRZ. The first one I got at .9% but never took deliver. Long story) |
