@Tcoat's example is not what you would call a real corner carver, but I do agree that this is a cosmetic thing in the vast majority of cases.
Sure, but you can make smaller sidewalls on any diameter tire whether it be 17 or 19 right?

Sure you can but then they don't fill the wheel well.

Right, so still it just boils down to cosmetics is all. And even then its still a tradeoff since bigger diameter means more weoght and more distance for a revolution so slows accel a bit, hence why they usally only come on bigger ho cars I guess

Finally went out to get wardrobe refresh.

The Levi's 541s... oh my goodness I finally found pants that fit me perfectly.

It cups my butt and snug around thighs and calves.

If you had 14s with low pros the gear in your transmission would have to be insanely small to travel the same speed. The faster cars get, the larger the wheels are getting (as a generality). Plus the sidewall stiffness as more people are interested in cornering. And the obvious aesthetics. Personally, I'm not convinced lighter wheels offer THAT MUCH performance gain. Physics dictate that lighter is better, but it's still only weight. Torque/power, spring rates, dampers, etc have a higher impact on performance. The vast majority of people would never be able to tell the difference

I love pa-chin-ko! I have an old (60's) one in my basement that needs some work, but I still play it (the balls fall out of the back so I have to have something there to catch them.

I wish they were more prevalent in the US. Only one I've ever seen for public use was at college way back when. It was somehow set up to work like a closed system, more like a pinball machine but was really fun.
