Thx. Think this might be the first mod on my car. If the weight savings is 20+ pounds and to get rid of what should have never been there to begin with (imo) I'm good with the price. Did you sound deaden anything, notice more noise with the factory seats etc gone? Thanks for the answers.

I did, but my car is prepped for weight reduction so it was loud to begin with. It actually helps the noise issue when installed vs. nothing at all. I believe for a relatively stock vehicle, the noise wouldn't be a huge issue.

I too am curious if there is more noise vs the stock interior. I priced out dynamat and other products and came to a similar price to cover only the delete but I would rather do it myself over a weekend. Personally if I go this route the only part I would sound deaden on the seat delete would be the partition from the trunk to the interior. Other than that I would do all the exposed metal I could get to.

NOW... if a molded piece of styrofoam/harder foam was available that would fill the bottom seat void that would provide excellent support for the delete base as well as ensure to deaden any sound from where the bottoms once were. That would be a nice option to see?

I built my own using 3/16"(IIRC) plywood and covered it with felt. Road noise with mine isn't much over original. It also is sturdy but the idea of doing a foam insert would allow for more strength and easier integration of storage.

To anyone thinking of making their own, if you have no concern for strength buy one like this unless you are really good at working with wood.

I made my own too with plywood, wood and sub box fabric, basically just used the front seat base brackets attached to wood to hold a face plate, then created a hinge and support area at the rear attached to inner mounting points.

It makes a great storage box, cost barely anything, and even before bracing was strong enough for me (240+) to get on the center of it on hands and knees putting all weight at the middle. I've got no worries about it being strong enough to hold some wheels distributed over its surface.

Road noise did go up pretty noticeably, at a later date I may address that.

Thank you OP for the write up.

I am trying to perform weight reduction mods as well. Airbags, sensors, rear seat-beats, and brackets will be removed. Does anyone know is what the purpose for these wires?
