Looks like Subaru paid a pretty penny to get an article like that written up.

^ This - it's not really worth it for a small manufacturer like Subaru to get tied up into some "cash-for-articles" scam that would probably harm the Subaru brand more than help them sell this vehicle.

The fact that the comments are mirrored from most other publications implies that either Subaru/Toyota have somehow engineered a global media conspiracy to promote the car despite shortcomings, or people actually really like the car.

I'm guessing the former...

So I spoke to my MD, he was lucky enough to test both the BRZ and GT-86 back to back in Japan last week.

His comments were the BRZ has a much better handling feel, even pushing it hard you can barely hear the tires. He said the BRZ has a better feel on corners than the 86.

His words exactly "The BRZ has superior handling over the 86"

Excellent review

Top gear are fans of subaru in the uk ,although jermany likes to make fun of us with our anoraks on standing in forests watching Subaru fly past at a million miles per hour and slow down just slightly for the corners

Looking very good and 25k price is not a worry in the uk we pay 34k for a STi which isn't selling very well due to high fuel costs and 1k first year road tax and £480 road fund licence every year
This is the car that Subaru needs to kick start their range again
I enquired to PRO-R yesterday about the rear wing as shown on the STi concept and they reply was if enough people ask for it and it is tested it will be available as an option
I asked about colours as I quite fancy orange (same colour as the new 4/4 ) or my real desire is the yellow and they said only colour confirmed at the moment is wr blue
It's awaiting game for the STi coming out

I wil imagine lots of people are like me in the uk ,take delivery of a new BRZ in summer or wait a bit longer
It's stressing me out as much as saving up for it

Gotta explain "better feel" in more detail though. For many people, understeer feels better.

More harm than good would occur if news leaked out. Subaru would be the laughing stock for paying for good reviews. Just take it as the car is great and the journalist love it. No money needed to be paid out.

From the reviews that cover both vehicles, it seems that "better feel" consists of "which manufacturer let us have the most fun". The other reviews where Subaru was the stingy one preferred the 86, whereas this review (where Toyota was stingy) prefers the Subaru.
