I was curious about whether or not transition tunes from E85 to 91/93 are in development or is that something we would have to pay for via custom tuning.

Last time I switched I had hella high fuel trims due to the left over e85 in the tank along with already E15 91 petrol.
Transition tune doesn't make sense as all conditions would be different for users... unless you mean limp mode tune?

So, when I downloaded the most recent ots maps they came with 2.07 xml defs in addition to the 2.06. Didn't investigate further, but I assume that I need to still use the 2.06 ones. Flashed yesterday, took about 2.5 mins. It was great!

Magically, it also happened when I connected my desktop and launched OpenFlash Manager with a working hard-line connection...

I'll get things installed on the laptop again some day (SSD went south and I had to start clean on installs. Only lost a little data.)

Why doesn't it make sense?

When you run 91 it's about e15. When you run E85 and switch to 91 if you have a gallon or two of E85 left in your tank, you're probably going to be running about e25-40.

The 91 tune doesn't account for this in the fuel trims (higher ethanol content) , I'm pretty sure ecutek has a transition tune.

It doesnt really seem necessary. Assuming there is 2.5 gallons of e85 in your tank, and you fill up with e15, the mix of 2.5 gallons of e85 and 10.5 gallons of e15 would equate to e28. obviously its not so cut and dry, but if im not mistaken, Im sure the ecu can correct for that amount of ethanol content.

I just dont see how there can be a transition tune when the ethanol content can vary tremendously.

Well I'm unsure of others experiences when switching from e85 to 91/93, but I had very high fuel trims (18% ish) due to the high ethanol content so I know the tune doesn't adjust to the ethanol content. I had about 2 gallons of e85 left in the tank when switching.

It's more or less peace of mind. Once I kept adding 91 to my tank my fuel trims slowly crept down.

What we're saying is it's impossible for the ECU and OFT at current to be that dynamic.. Everyone's tank composition is different so the only way you'd really obtain a true "transition tune" scenario would be akin to a limp mode map that retards timing and severely limits load/engine speed..

True peace of mind is running a flex fuel setup just no way around it

Lol yes perhaps I'm asking too much, and these little things we'll have to live with for now. However I don't see how it would be dynamic most people will end up around e30 when transitioning, unless they prefer to run the tank dry. The content will change slightly as you run the tank down. Afaik the e85 handles e60 to e85. We have a tune that can handle a couple gallons of 91 + e85, why can't it work the other way around.

I know a decent amount about tuning but I don't know what would have to be adjusted to make these changes, I wouldn't go as far as to say it's impossible.

Yes yes I know flex tune would be the way to go, but for the price of this hardware/software I couldn't say no. I'm not complaining but it would be nice to hear it from the horses mouth so to speak.
