Need Help Deciding on Newer BRZ

Hey guys so I may be in the market for a newer BRZ.
Reasoning behind me just wanting to get out into a newer BRZ was due to the stupid valve spring recall. My motor has blown a total of 3 times since February and I can see it blowing again in the very near future. The Dealership has even admitted that they have not worked on enough BRZ's to find out why the motor is constantly breaking down on me.

They quoted me at 20K and my current BRZ for a 2019 limited in white. (7k trade in included for BRZ)

I got another quote from a different dealer at 22k and my current BRZ for a 2019 limited with the PP. (Offered only 5K for trade in on brz but included)

Do you think these are great prices? I'm honestly tired of just bringing my car back every other month almost for repairs. I've tried fighting for a new crate motor after the motor blowing so many times but they won't honor it.

I'd go for the PP BRZ

I got 12,7k on my 2015 Frs (clean manual 40k miles) on trade for a 2017 PP brz limited. They asked 21k for it
And I took that deal. Even being about 3 or 4 upside down the newer car and the PP pack makes it worth it to me.

The good thing for me is I owe nothing on my current BRZ. getting 7K on it with 1 accident where I was rear ended and then service records of the motor being rebuilt 3 times in 8 months that included 2 new short blocks. The dealer offering 7k is the dealer that screwed up the car to start with. The dealer offering 5k is giving me the benefit of the doubt they say.

I paid 26.7k for my 19 BRZ Ltd with PP and 450$ worth of accessories like dimming mirror, all weather cargo mat, interior LED light.

Trade in value sounds very low for your car. Why not try to sell it privately?

I feel like it would be close to impossible to sell. My current BRZ is a ticking time bomb and I personally would hate to sell someone a car that will in the very near future go bad for them. The motor at the moment has a knock that the dealer says is "normal".

It has an accident on it's history and has been through 3 engines. These alone will drop the trade in value below the average (which appears to be around $8K depending upon location).

If he tried to sell a BRZ with a motor that was possibly on its way out, how much do you think he could get for it? I think the dealership is giving him the better deal on the trade in offer. The real solution is the initial dealer just getting him a brand new longblock assembly that was assembled in the factory

Agreed, a new longblock would be the real solution. At this point they are aware of the knock in my motor and say it's safe to drive on. The last couple times they told me that, my motor blew on the highway. Twice. SOA is aware of all the situations and also state they can not do anything if the dealership states the vehicle is "safe"

Hell, my car has a perfectly fine engine but with my mileage and all of the highway battle scars I would be overjoyed to get $7K trade in on it.

Both those offers sound like great deals to me. My brand new 86 TRD was 33 or something.

I don’t know that your car qualifies for lemon law claim it it still may be worth talking to one. If you bought the car new and have three blown engines this year you may have a case. Usually the lawyer will discuss it with you for free. So it can’t hurt.
