I always figured 2550-2575 would be where most folks would end up. 2500 would be a bit extreme, I'm not sure where you would find the extra weight to toss out.

Exhaust, battery, junk in the car, and gas are the main weight savings and can get most people right near 2600. Then you have lighter suspension components in coilovers. Wheels/tires might be a wash. Brakes are an expensive way to lose weight, but those Essex ones Sam started selling are nice.

I'm not sure how you get to 2500lbs though, that's crazy.

Well if you change out all the heavy factory stuff. And ditch the A/C, etc. Lighter race seats, etc. I guess I could see it in a 100% prepped car.

I don't think you can ditch the A/C in STX. I think with race seats, lightweight wheels, lightweight exhaust, batt, intake, suspension,... 2,500 shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know how far I want to go with weight loss, If I get to 2550 I will be happy.

Yea, A/C removal is a SP move.

I'd make a joke about removing carpet padding, but no one on here would get it.

New topic area. This year I'll be racing CS with direzza Z2s on stock rims. Next year I will be prepping for STX. I Have noticed a few people talking about using 16-inch wheels for lower gear ratio. I have done this with other cars. What does everyone think about the benefits (cons) of going with 16-inch wheels.

Considering in 2nd gear on 245-17's I am banging the Rev Limiter(stock) at 59.2 mph...why would you want to go shorter??? now with a tune.. the Rev-limiter is increased to 8K...which is about 63.2 MPH. Are you thinking weight??? or the shorter gearing, even with a tune, being able to help somewhere??? I honestly think the shorter gearing/tune will not cure most of all that..

I really don't have much driving time with the car yet,but so far on the street I don't see a problem with 17s, I was just putting it out there for discussion. It sounds like I will be fine with 17s and getting some wider wheels next year.
