As I was stuck in traffic today, contemplating my navel and I begun to surmise that I am not a drifter (in either sense of the word). I like control, I love control, I neeeeeed control. So what am I thinking signing up for this and what exactly is this? You see I've spent 8 years wheel to wheel racing, competing on track to beat other cars in a race against the clock to finish first and in doing so, staying in control by avoiding sliding and by mitigating, minimizing mistakes in order to win. Winning is fun, driving fast is just something you have to do to get there. I spent entire races tracking down first place, making the pass and having the 2nd place car inches from my rear bumper lap after lap finishing by only half a car length and all I had repeating in my head was "don't make a mistake, don't make mistake..."

Don't. Make. A. Mistake.

So in a little over 24 hours I will throw it all out for a day of drifting. A day of "mistake making". I will deliberately initiate a mistake, exceeding the slip angle of the rear tires, exceeding control of the car and holding it, maintaining it and enjoying it, in the moment, as an art form. A really fun art form.

Kind of like jazz, but better sounding.

Until then...

Some pics from setting up today - you'll recognize the faces - some have been doing this for over 10 years.

^^^ Course tested and approved for various vehicles...

^^^ Hmmm.... How did that get in here? Oh well, shameless plug(s). @AVOturboworld

See you all tomorrow!

Regards!
