Monogram Push Start Issue

Hi Everyone,

Not sure if any of the Monogram/ 10 Series/ Limited people are having this issue.

Lately, I've come across while trying to start my car (AT), the car doesn't start.
All the lights on the dash will light up, the radio works, the green light comes on that it recognizes the key, and the steering wheel isn't locked.

I've also tried unplugging the battery to reset the car, still no luck.
And I changed the batteries inside the key fobs.
I also heard the cell phone can interfere, so I've also tried turning the phone off.

Thing is, the immobilizer light will flash and the green key light is solid.
It doesn't do it all the time, and usually if I wait around for about 30 minutes or so, the car will eventually start.

Only thing I can think of is my battery could be dying.
2014 model with 60k miles.

Any ideas?

Yep, that would be my guess too.

I suggest you check the battery:

Or, take the car into a shop and have them do a "load test" on the battery.

Life is too short to put up with a weak battery.....

Im jumping on the battery train as well. I thought someone had a similar issue and it was the battery or my mind could be making things up. Though battery would definitely be the first thing to check especially during this time of year and the changing temps.

My usual response to these is unhook the battery and hook it back up to reset but since you have already done that I will hop on the battery train as well. A dying battery can do the weirdest stuff sometimes.

Well, I changed the battery this past weekend and while leaving work yesterday, the car didn't want to start up again.
After trying different things like locking the car, going outside, wait for the factory alarm to set, unlock, get try to start, ect...
The car finally started about 30 minutes later.

Only thing I can really think of now is maybe bad ECU?
I have enough juice on the battery and the alternator is reading just fine.

Any other ideas?

Now, you have a new battery.......hmmmmm

Are you sure the new battery had a full charge .. ??

(it wouldn't be the first one - weak off the shelf)

Did you clean the inside of the battery cable clamps .. ??

When you say "it won't start" does it turn over and not fire ..... or nothing happens when you hit the start button .. ??

Does it go: click-click-click after you push the start button .. ?? (heck, I don't even know if they do that anymore ..... ).

DANG electronics .......

Back in the day, I would suggest you check the cable connection on the starter.

Then check the battery ground connection to the block/frame.

However, you may have to take it into the dealer ......

You don't have stuff plugged in do you? An OFT, perhaps?

Two switches to check come to mind and I don't know if they have them for certain since I have a manual. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.


There are generally two switches that can stop you from getting a push button car started. The first is a brake switch and the other is gear selector position sensor.

The first switch's job is obvious. The other switch, sometimes referred to as a NSS (Neutral Safety Switch) is meant to prevent an automatic from being started in anything other than park or neutral.

I tested the battery with a volt meter when I bought it, and also had it on a trickle charger before install.
Clean all the terminals and applied a little dielectric grease to both terminals.

Everything turns on, radio, lights, gauges, but the car doesn't turn over.
It's as if I only hit the push button without pressing the brake or clutch pedal.

Only thing I have plugged in is my radar, and phone charger.
Recently, I've been unplugging those items when I shut the car off to make sure nothing is draining the battery.

I've made a habit to shut the radio off, turn off the A/C, unplug the radar and charger before I turn the car off.

No OFT, car is tuned via ECUTEK by Motoeast.

Thanks, I'll look into those switches, may be a faulty one that's going out, but not completely.
