Is Scion's send off bad for FRS drivers?
I want to get an FRS but since Scion is no longer a thing, will this inhibit my ability to service the vehicle at any particular dealer? Can I take it to a Toyota service center (same question for BRZ)?
I'm new here - don't whip out the pitchforks please |

They've always been sold at Toyota dealers, and for MY17 they're being explicitly sold as Toyotas, so no, there shouldn't be any issues.
Nothing has changed with BRZ. |

Thanks for the quick reply. Weighing the pros and cons of BRZ vs FR-S.. here in New England those heated seats would be nice but just too much out of my budget.

BRZ Limited is nice. If I had to do it again, I'd have found a way to get a BRZ Limited or a 10-series / Monogram FR-S. The value vs the price difference is very, very good. After you own the car and look at the cost/feasibility of adding the features you don't get with a base model - you realize the value.

Scion is Toyota. You'll be fine, don't worry about it.

Not sure about that, in my opinion (apologies in advance to anyone offended) a mustache is the opposite of sophistication, but I believe the opposite is true: the mustache gives the BRZ a less sophisticated air-o-dynamics, the coefficient of drag is marginally higher. |

Trim levels hold value better than options. They also hold value better than adding the things you wanted yourself.
When I made my decision I considered the BRZ a higher trim level than the FRS, not a subaru vs toyota thing. Also consider if you add on the things you want it may not be covered by insurance. For heated seats it won't matter but one of the reasons I wanted the BRZ was for the headlights. I just had a comprehensive claim and the insurance had to pay $800 for a replacement headlight (one headlight). Try to consider all angles when you make your purchase. Be realistic with what you plan to do to the car. In this example if you plan on retrofitting your FRS headlights with projectors anyway, might as well just get a BRZ to start.

BRZ Limited trim also comes with little amenities like door courtesy lights, vanity mirror lights, dual zone climate control, heated seats, alarm, rear trunk release button, HIDs, fog lights, etc. FRS limited editions at most will just give you HIDs, dual zone climate control, maybe heated seats but not the rest.
Body kit and rims are obviously much easier to retrofit than amenities. I didn't want another purposely decontent car like my old North American spec VW. When I bought my BRZ, the top trim came out a bit cheaper than an optioned out FRS which still came with less equipment than the BRZ. |

On the mustache issue:
The front ends of most cars are typically designed to resemble faces. The way the front bumper of the BRZ is formed, the so-called "mustache" is inside the "mouth" opening in the front of the car, where you would expect teeth. I don't think I've ever seen a mustache inside someone's mouth. Therefore, calling it a mustache is possibly the most stupid comment you can make about this car. Hey, it's fine if you don't like the bumper. But at least quit repeating an insult that doesn't make any sense like a flock of brain-damaged parrots. |
