The call of C'thulhu

The call of C'thulhu... part 1

Well, no use crying over spilt milk, C'thulhu II has been hands down a ton more fun to drive than the first iteration. The image below was the load screen on the first and shall remain as a memorial to a fun car.

The call of C'thulhu... part 2

Next mod: Shift knob on order, but that barely counts as a "mod".
Next next mod: TBD

Completed Modifications:
Fluids:
  • Engine Oil: OEM Subaru
  • Engine Oil Filter: OEM Subaru
  • Transmission: Motul Gear 300
  • Rear Differential: Motul Gear 300
  • Brakes: OEM Subaru
Performance:
  • Wheels: OEM 17x7" plastidipped black with blue Muteki short, open ended lug nuts.
  • Tires: Michelin Pilot Super Sport 225/45r17
  • Alignment: Front: 1/32 toe out, -1* camber from notch on top mount (ie: -1* notch is really -2*) Rear: 1/32 toe in , -1.5* camber
  • TRD performance intake
  • Motul Gear 300 oil in rear differential and transmission
  • Bilstein B8 shocks with @Racecomp Engineering Tarmac springs
  • OEM crash bolts Subaru part# 901000394 (top slot)
  • SPC Camber bolts (bottom slot)
  • Whiteline polyurethane positive shift kit
  • Raceseng cascam top hats for front struts
  • RacerX rear lower control arms w/ urethane bushing
  • Racecomp Engineering hollow sway bars front and rear
  • #Whiteline adjustable front endlinks - currently uninstalled as they decided to unthread themselves and somewhere on a road or parking in Texas are two the of the "locking" nuts which were supposed to keep the endlinks from separating from each other. Currently have the OEM endlinks installed and these are sitting in a box in my garage.
  • @GrimmSpeed Lightweight Crank Pulley

Cosmetic/Utility:

  • @GrimmSpeed hood struts
  • @GrimmSpeed license plate reallocation kit
  • @GrimmSpeed Pulley Cover - black powder coat
  • HELIX JDM style tinted side marker lamps
  • Perrin 2" shorty antennae
  • Perrin Exhaust Tips
  • WeatherTECH floor mats
  • Installed custom load screen for OEM nav unit
  • LED and 6000K HID bulbs from @Diode Dynamics
  • Carbon 35 window tint for rear and side windows.
  • Rexspeed wide angle mirrors, non-heated.
  • Rally Armor mudflaps
  • #Vanity plates, KTULU (T Series so legally it is TKTULU) - I now live in Florida and I have transferred title and registration to Florida so these plates are now wall decoration.
  • WRB painted replica oem diffuser
  • Matte black plastidipped wheels with Muteki short open ended blue lug nuts
  • Hella Supertone Horns, painted WRB
  • Blacked out headlights and demon eyes
  • Tinted taillights, DRLs, & fog lights
  • Mishimoto baffled catch can with black silicone tubing
Planned Modifications:
Listed below are my planned mods in a rough order and split between cosmetic and performance modifications:
* Part(s) is/are on order and/or in my possession and awaiting installation
** this list will be updated as I remember mods that I have forgotton at the moment or if I find something else that I want to do.
*** Pics will populate posts #3 & #4 and as replies to this thread.
# This particular mod is shelved for the time being

Performance Modification Flowchart:
Name: Screen Shot 2015-01-05 at 5.26.45 PM.png
Views: 1170
Size: 37.3 KB

Performance:
  • Coilovers - currently favoring the RCE Tarmac 2's, current plan is to do the coilovers late 2015 or early 2016. Will likely go with a plan B for top mounts, currently favoring the GD forged plates which are also from RCE.
  • Winmax W1 and/or W2 brake pads
  • Performance fluids (engine oil, brake fluid, etc)
  • MTEC shift springs
  • Whiteline rear differential mount bushings
  • Engine and transmission mounts (Perrin for trans mount, Cusco for engine mount)
  • 17x9" +35 offset Enkei RPF1 (square setup) wrapped with TBD 245/40, ARP studs, forged steel lugnuts.
  • Front pipe & overpipe - current favorite (Motiv Concepts, HFC version for front pipe)
  • Catback exhaust - current favorite (FT86 SpeedFactory V1)
  • SS brake lines - current favorite (MTEC)
  • Intake duct - current favorite (HKS)
  • Exhaust manifold - currently interested in catless UEL 4-2-1 design, TBD on manufacturer.
  • Engine tune (ECU-Tek once warranty expires [I have the 100k warranty])

Cosmetic / utility:
  • *Shifter knob - Leaning towards the Copolymer Piston design... in fact I might buy that tonight.... edit as of 10 minutes later the knob is on order: black with red shift pattern and 3 knurled bands at the top.
  • Reverse lockout - current favorite (Raceseng - Black or Gunmetal)
  • Mount for android tablet running Torque app for gauge cluster
  • TBD Tails, leaning towards Toms clear these days.
  • TBD fourth brake light
  • Black interior trim pieces from the BRZ tS.
  • STi front lip, side skirts, etc (will be going with replica due to $$$)
  • Forrester XT oem oil cooler DIY install, just need a couple more parts to be able to complete (Now legal for street touring autocross classes!)

Driver:
  • HPDE
  • Go on a diet / exercise / generally lose some excess weight.

February 4, 2014. Got the last of the IOU's from the dealer taken care of and decided to do an impromptu photo shoot with my crazy amateur photog skills (I make no apologies for crappy framing or focus, I am a camera noob).

Most definitely, I did about ten laps around the parking lot for my apartment building stopping and starting to get the hang of first gear today (2-6 are easy peasy, a little jumpy but shifting is not stall worthy).

I'll take pics tomorrow after work (yay retail), as far as reception I don't really listen to the radio so I'm not sure.I've heard others comment that they lost some signal strength.

I'm curious too about the Perrin antenna. The shark fin doesn't really do it for me, but the Perrin looks real clean on your car
